I just started RIFT again after a decade. It hold up pretty good in my opinion... but Neverwinter is another one I might give a look at. When I first played I was just turned off by the in your face lootboxes and store shilling... but in today's world... maybe its worth another look.

The problem with Neverwinter becomes how integral Astral Diamonds are to your progression. Progression is important because content is locked behind gear score essentially and the main problem with gear score is that pretty much everything influences it, including companions and mounts. Sure you can buy those off the AH with astral diamonds but they tend to cost a few million depending on what you're buying and you can only refine a few thousand a day per account I believe unless that changed.

Neverwinter is a good game for dropping in now and again. Have your fix, a bit of nostalgia time, see that it's still an all or nothing money investment and move on.

Gambling is everywhere now, it is more a matter of how much it influences the game, we cannot avoid it entirely. There are rare exceptions but that's the field until some regulation is brought in about this.

More on topic, moving play to the PC is always a wise move. :)

Having to GM suddenly again must have been daunting, nearly every Rper likes to be a player anyway. Don't let that put you of the idea of doing some more relaxed roleplay in another game, its not all GM stress.

yeah this is why I check in on neverwinter once in a while, there's like no D&D licensed games any more. Baldur's Gate 3 will be great

Yeah... I love the idea of DDO online but its so painfully outdated by this time that it physically hurts me.

I gonna give Neverwinter another look

Neverwinter is too P2W to be worth playing.

I tried to like Neverwinter but, petty as though it might sound, when I saw system broadcast announcements of what some rando got out of their loot box, I was out of there.

They do the same same thing on star trek it's very annoying and there is no way to turn it off far as  I know

I felt no connection whatsoever between playing Neverwinter and D&D...It felt like another generic multiplayer video game to me.

Same here.  Just having a thin wash over a basic mmo doesn't give it a D&D feel to me.

    SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
