i'd rather have a mmorpg that focuses on either pvp or pve and makes it as good as possible then just make a half asses pve/pvp hybrid mmo like any other mmorpg.

pvp also limits on the type of combat you can add since it has to be balanced if you try to shove in pvp.

having blue protocol be purely pve will let them use alot more resources in making pve good by making a good story, quests, world, dungeons, etc. and not having to worry about pvp will let them make and tune the combat for pve making it alot more immersive and fantastical like dragons dogma (casting classes would get fucked if it had pvp).

You can PvP without being antisocial, its about the who the players are not the game-style.
Maybe, but smack talking ones opponents in competitive activities is taught from a very early age, at least here in the States.

I recall playing bantum league baseball at 7 years old and they had us catcall our opponents whenever they came up to bat.

I still remember it to this day, "he can't hit, he can't hit, batta, batta, batta, he can't hit."

Only got worse as we grew older.

Meanwhile, I don't recall a batting cage machine ever calling me names.

    ;)
I think it is more about there being a culture that talks players out of that and I am not sure how effective any such culture can be until players are past their teens.

I don't see any issue with an mmo not having pvp. It seems strange to me that people would even find that to be a problem. That said, in mmos that have both pve and pvp content, I generally steer well clear of the pve side of things because pve players tend to be incredibly toxic, and generally just terrible, terrible people.

"Even when there is a content drought or in moments when you are caught up with the game, PVP lets engage with the player base."

Fucking exactly. And that is what Genshin is missing. If not just for the fact that it's a system where you can engage with other players. If you don't like it, you don't have to play it. But don't take away our toys just because you're a salty gamer. "It's toxic." The fact you make that statement before it even exists means that you're sensitive, that you are the main culprit of the problem. PVP exists in many games out there including other MMOs. Does that mean they're failures? This is ridiculous.

One guy's ignorant opinion isn't everybody's opinion. Thank you to the person who said, "we don't recognize you as the official spokesperson for the MMO genre."

It depends on the type of game it is and the resources the game have. FFXIV concentrated on PvE and revamped their game and only after developing the PvE did they add PvP. It is no good to go half cocked in your development and if the team needs those resources it would be better for them to develop the PvE side of things before tackling the PvP.

Plus they must make it consent based PvP or else a PvE focused game with PvE players will baulk at the alternative.

Most of us are happy there is no PVP, the toxic nature of PVP ruins games in many different ways, from having to balance both PVP and PVE, (often with PVE suffering as a result), and the just plain toxic nature of PVP players in general. For me and many others, lack of PVP is a big plus!

They ruin them for you. But forgive "most" of us if we don't recognize you as the official spokesperson for the MMO genre.

And I never presented myself as the official spokesperson, that's on your lack of reading comprehension, but was speaking for myself and many friends who dislike PVP in games, and don't play them, we will all be in Blue Protocol pve-ing away though!
