The upcoming July update of New World brings with it one of the MMO's most interesting additions yet: musical instruments. We chatted with Amazon Game Studios about the faire and the addition of the instrument mechanic, as well as dove in ourselves on the PTR to perform some songs of our own.

    I'm really happy to see New World develop some non-combat systems like this. It does freak me out a little bit though, that it's prioritized over making some sort of transmog system. It kind of blows my mind how much they underestimate the importance of character appearance and styling. The character creator direly needs an overhaul and improvement, and transmog is the obvious next step to engaging people long term (and then of course, 3rd place goes to making an actual fun endgame).

    I loved the music system in LOTRO. Can't wait to try this one ! About the "fun" endgame... I'm in a good guild, on a medium sized server, we almost all know each other on the server just like it was back in AC1 or UO, and we group together for fun after killing each other in PvP, to be honest, I never had that much fun in the game. I'm perma-PvP-flagged now.

    I've started up New World again. Played a few days after launch but the massive problems led me to shelve it for a bit. Nice thing about Buy to Play games, you can ALWAYS come back on and off and no big deal. But I have to say I am having a lot of fun with it. Feels like a cross between Conan Exiles and Skyrim playstyle in a way except with better combat. But the game runs well now, has content for awhile since I'm just starting out, has an expansion coming, and now they introduce a music system just for flavor. I applaud it. I will say the engine they use for the game in simply amazing. I love the world they crafted. Its far from perfect but I am enjoying it.

    And I like their new music. It adds variety to this sad game. They need to use music promotion, then the popularity of this song will increase significantly.
