So the NPC's can look human but the players can't?

Do players have combat abilities beyond what's given from the equipped weapons?

I really dislike when an RPG centers your entire character around what you're wearing.

It's fine to have weaponskill lines with unique abilities for each weapon type, but I really hate it when all of my abilities are determined by armor class/weapons I'm equipping.  Really turned me off of Albion Online.

Someone said in another thread that combat abilities were very limited, but not what they are cased on.

Yeah which abilities you can use depends on which weapon you're currently using. You can have multiple weapons equipped and switch between them. Like switch between ranged and melee or to heal. It's also possible to overwrite skills on the weapons using skill scrolls. Like use a staff skill on a bow etc..

You can make human characters. There are like 4 different base human races, so you could choose any one of them if you really wanted to be human.

So whats the ratio of humans to non-human? Thinking back even dwarves and elves was going too far for players back in the day, humans always won out. Have things changed?

I've probably never seen an actual human in game. My neighbors are a shark and a monkey. I get visitors a lot... most of them are squids or birds.

You can create human character, male of female, child or adult. But you can also be a rhino or a squid.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

What an odd game. I jumped in on PC for about an hour and if it wasnt for the plethora of mobile 'click me for stuff' shoved in my face, id probably enjoy it a lot. It's super janky though, also PC has no fullscreen support and if you install it through the website and not steam then uninstalling is very difficult.

I'd love this if only it wasnt a mobile port :/

The jank is unreal, it makes Elex 2 look like a polished AAA title. Still, there is something about it, a weird sense of adventure.

I'm honestly just playing for the building aspect. I played for 3 hours yesterday just redoing my plot and didn't even notice the time fly by lol. Its also fun riding around and looking at what other ideas people come up with.

Housing is one of the areas I can get completely absorbed in. I loved doing it in Valheim. In EQ2 I did it for hours on end.

I enjoy the housing aspect but in most games I forget it exists. I like the way they do it here. They make you expand and diversify your land plot, and since I can see my neighbors and stuff I like outdoing them, and looking down on them.

But there are a lot of really cool systems. The pet system is really interesting. I have a bear with wings, and a dinosaur with a wolf tail. Can't say I've seen this stuff done before.

I have done zero research on the game but can other players destroy what you build or try and block or otherwise wall you in. Is there PvP and can they kill you?

I think I'm still pretty low level. I'm in my mid 30s, but there is PvP. Though I don't know if there is any kind of PvP within your same faction/continent. The only time I was flagged is when I went across the sea into another region, it flagged me for PvP.

I couldn't attack any structures though.

I haven't experienced any PvP or anyone attacking my building, but there is a mechanic for PvE enemies to attack your base. I haven't experienced it, but there's a whole warning system around monsters attacking your base. It's weird because huge monsters just walk right through my base all the time without doing any damage so I bet it's some kind of end game thing.

I do think that you could probably be blocked by other bases around you. Obviously you will have a limit to how far your base can extend. But for example, I build a wall around the entire perimeter of my base and I know it pisses off one of my neighbors because the wall is way higher than his base, so he's kind of in my shadow.

I probably won't keep it like that, but you get the idea. You could be a real jerk if you wanted to.

A terrible mobile port. Very janky. Real bad translations too. I gave up after about an hour.

Not in pve area. Your buildings are safe from players (some things can be stolen like crops after a while but thats minor). Yet your building needs to be repaired from damage done by monsters (also minor but still there).

I love building in this game, you can build anything anywhere. But combat... ugh. Mobile.

Some theft eek people steal from you? Well as long as it is not all the stuff I put inside the house. So the plants outside can be stolen. /sigh

I really cannot accept that. I hate when I work hard at something and someone comes along and destroys or steals the product of my hard work. Reason Dual Universe has no attraction for me.

Well this seems minimal thanks for the info.

Not true, I made a human girl and she looks normal. ;) I'm having a blast with this game tho, it's super fun and the tutorials are super helpful if ur lost or not sure how to do something. There's an in game guide as well. I'm currently playing on PC and trying to get my Mom to play on her tablet, it will give her something fun to do while she's sadly in a nursing home with not much to do at all :( I used to play EQ2, Guild Wars & WoW with her. Hopefully this game will cheer her up a bit like it has me and a breath of fresh air for an "itch" for a new game. :) Happy Gaming all!

Looks interesting. Idea is good. Yet I am a bit lost.
How is f2p in this game? Heavy restrictions, like SWTOR, demo mode like Runescape, "level up untill baby and then keep progress frozen" like Istaria or something else?
Then these "work points" I heard CL has. What if I run out of these? Sit helpless in the middle of fire-storm? Use potions to restore? Or too convenient option to use store?
How are the controls? Tab-targetting or "jump-dodge" thing?
What about death penalty? Any loss of xp, inventory, coins?
What about grind? You obvously need resources and food. Is it heavy or just moderate? (i.e. "kill 400 rats for quest" or "kill 4 rats for quest"?).
What I would really want to try - housing. Build my Nightmare house or some Sith base or just Fortress in the middle of Nowhere. Decorate it as I see fit. Or event grow up my own mermaid.
What turns me off is food system. Not only should I care about many things, I would have one more bar to be at 100% all the time.

Free to play is pretty good.

There is an energy system, but the amount of energy you start out with is huge. I've never used it all. You need energy to gather resources which is the main thing you do in the game. It takes about 4 energy each to gather a resource and you regen something like 400 every 10 minutes or something. You can also regen energy by eating food, which is a free resource you can make at any time. I have never run out of energy, or even come close.

The cash shop has some cosmetics and a special currency that you can use to buy stuff... I guess you could consider it Pay 2 win... since you can buy weapons and items you might not be able to craft yet, or animals you might not be able to capture yet.

There's few restrictions. I haven't been locked out of anything I've tried yet. The main restrictions are time based/resource or level based.

For example if you want to build the next tier of pet catcher to tame stronger pets, you will need to upgrade things in your base to do it. Each upgrade requires in game money, then you have to wait for the upgrade to finish, then you need the crafting materials to make the item, so you're limited based on all of that. Some upgrades can take 10 hours or more, so once you start the upgrade you basically have to wait a day for it to finish.

There is a death penalty. You don't drop anything but you move slow and you don't lose any XP.

The grind is pretty high. I'm nearing level 40 and levels come slowly. Really slowly. You do get XP for everything you do. Crafting, building, fighting and looting enemies, gathering, all that gives you XP but at a certain point it takes a long time to go from level to level.

The game is third persion shooter style. You aim to shoot your weapons, there is a soft targeting system, but it doesn't work very well for me.

Building is really good, you can build pretty much anything, almost anywhere. I've seen people find some really unique areas of the worl I wouldn't think to build in and they've claimed and built stuff. Like in the bottom of caves, or on top of statues.

Food can be annoying. You have to eat, and you have to feed your mounts and also give them healing potions. If you don't, you will die. The main thing to remember is that the more stuff you do the more you'll need to eat. If you're just screwing around with building you probably won't need to eat much at all for 30 minutes or longer. If you gather everything in sight you'll probably need to eat every 5 to 10 minutes.

I am not linking this here because I think it is a great video or anything but because of the insane character customization. It is a bit jarring to be honest, not sure I like it though.

Pretty much every time you kill anything you can loot it and gathering is everywhere. Trees drop food, animals have food, plants drop food. There's food everywhere.

I usually cook a bunch of it and it lasts a while but I don't gather that much. There are special gathering tools that gather really quick and eat up your hunger bar in a few minutes. But normal gathering doesn't make you as hungry.

It's kind of weird that way. The faster you gather the hungrier you are, even if you're using a machine that gathers at 10 times the rate swinging an axe does. I guess they have to balance it somehow?
