Torchlight: Infinite Brings David Brevik On Board as Consulting Producer Before Open Beta Arrives Oct 12th | MMORPG.com
In advance of next month's open beta, Torchlight: Infinite has added ARPG vet David Brevik, known for Diablo and Marvel Heroes, as consulting producer.
They are desperately trying to get credibility for this game. It won’t work, it’s just not fun. How they could mess up two sequels in a row is beyond me....

Um yep.
I've seen some people say the game is pretty deep and fun. I cancelled the install when I realized it had P2W gacha pet system.
Anyway, David Brevik seems to mainly work as a publisher these days and I've seen him be pretty annoyed at people that make a fuss over P2W aspects of games. So I'm not really sure what influence he will have.
The developers recently made a post stating the next beta would start October 12th and that they were making some adjustments to the MTX. But they aren't removing P2W gacha pets and they still want to charge you for stash tabs, battle passes and gambling for legendary pets with the skills you want.
I think the game is a lost cause on PC in the west. They lied when they initially promised no P2W like D:I, TL3 ruined the reputation of the IP and Diablo Immortal is a more polished ARPG for people that are OK with P2W.
The only time it got significant views on Twitch was when they paid established streamers to play the game. As far as I could tell anyone that asked for access on Steam got it and they still only got a little over 2k peak players there. Maybe it's an issue with not enough advertising, but I personally knew about it quite a while ago.
Genshin Impact uses the gacha system and it is a huge hit so I imagine we will see this in MMORPGs going forward. I hate the sytem and will stick to older games if this is the future, but younger players seem fine with it.
A completely average series that was saved by a lot of heart and soul. Now without said heart and soul. It does look better then TL 3 though, so there is that.

'the only way he could nail it any better is if he used a cross.'

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

It isn't better than TL3, so it doesn't even have that. Compared to TL2, forget about it.

TL3 isn't ideal but is way better than this turned out.
