After a Successful Kickstarter Campaign, Genfanad Launches With a Trailer Skewering MMO Tropes | MMORPG.com
Inspired by classic MMORPGs and with a whole lot of tongue in cheek humor, Genfanad has officially launched following a successful Kickstarter campaign.
They raised less than $20,000 to make an MMORPG and want to spin that as "successful"?
Maybe they only needed 20k to finish it or to supply marketing costs?
By the looks of it, it doesn't look too graphically intense. Given that a game like "Love" could be done with one person and that other game with the cow curse (can't remember the name) was done by two people, it's possible that they only needed a small amount of money.
And they launched it. Good for them.

Honestly some of the graphical assets look like they were directly ripped or stolen from jagex, and if that is the case, this game won't last long and the devs may even face possible suits.

The Kickstarter was done towards the end of development, so as Sovrath said, it was probably needed for a final push to finish the game sooner rather than later. And since they actually doubled their original goal, I would definitely consider it a successful campaign. Not every developer needs to have a triple-A budget.

I dont see you doing anything better other than making over 20k comments on a website.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
