45 mins in an mmo and you judge it.... do so after 300-400 hours and your opinion will matter.
Personally I think that opinions of people who play for 300-400 hours and afterwards complain that the game is bad don't matter. They obviously have some important screws missing in their head if they spend hundreds of hours in a game without having fun.

I mostly agree with this but will also say that most mmorpgs aren't really indicative of what you'll end up spending most of your time doing until you reach the 'endgame' loop as it were. Kind of like how various people play a game like WoW for various reasons. Not everyone raids/does rated pvp/loves leveling/etc so if a core element you're interested in isn't fun, then you're right to judge it when you reach it. How much time spent is irrelevant. It kind of reminded me of when someone back in legion posted on the official forums that the expansion was boring and CM publicly berated them after checking their armoury, "Well you didn't clear this or this or this, so you haven't even really played the game." Its like what if they played what they wanted and just didn't like it? Playing more stuff they aren't interested in isn't always going to make them suddenly interested....

If the game is essentially static over that time and the play consistent throughout and looking to stay that way it would be a hard complaint to take seriously. MMORPGs that aren't in maintenance mode aren't all that static. A significant change to one after hundreds of hours of fun play could easily shatter the enjoyment a person has with it, making their change in view quite reasonable.
Just installed and will be playing a bit this afternoon. that is if I can get my mining units in Dual universe set up properly, first. :P
I just shut it down. As long as I do not hit play I can't be disappointed. Right? ... Right?
Yeah, its not great. Played for about forty-five minutes. The tutorial is rough and if you choose a forester like me its freaking rough. Everyone is going skinner because it is hard to find a freaking tree log to gather materials for the tutorial quest. Not only that but the game is rough and controls weird

Is that what you'll tell your wife on the wedding night?
I expect the decision to marry someone such that there is a wedding night would take closer to the 400 hours than 45 minutes. It's not really a comparable assessment.
Some people wait until the wedding night for the fun stuff. So he's got about 3 minutes to convince her not to get a refund. Perfectly comparable. If anything, it's overly generous.
Yeah, I'm sure that a woman who bases the entirety of her relationships on the fun stuff isn't going to wait until after marriage to adequately test that ride to ensure it's long-term viability.
And most gamers aren't going to wait 400 hours to find the fun stuff, either. Glad you finally understand.
Presumably anyone with 400 hours playing a game found the fun in it a good while back so as to reach that total.
There is nothing "finally" about my understanding in this matter.
1st open Beta - 180 2nd open Beta - 150 3rd open Beta - 100
Release Alpha players only prime time 55 Release Beta + Alpha players prime time 120 Release All players (not open yet)
The numbers for 2nd open beta and the beta access to release Is pretty close. Tomorrow is where the numbers will begin to get telling as previous non-supporters will have to buy their way into playing the game if they wish to play.
If it was my show I'd be pretty worried right now.

How are you getting the numbers?
I am not doing minute to minute checks, so its possible I'm off by a few. But I am pretty sure most of these numbers are pretty close to peak. The Beta numbers were right during the special event, when that was over a bunch of people logged off.

Well the Beta+Alpha Release number of 120 will only have Beta or better access. Where as the open Beta did have the "free" players with codes mixed in.
I don't know how many Beta+ players they have total, but I would expect it to be way more than 120.
So yep, its all going to be what happens when it opens to everyone. But first look, it seems lower than I actually expected and I wasn't expecting much.

The way I look at it too is that 300 hours is a ton of freetime. If it takes 300-400 hours for a game to get good, like it has a mind blowing endgame, I still wouldn't play it. I am not going to slog through garbage to find the gold at the bottom. Why do that? There are a ton of other games that are worth the time and money that I could be playing instead.

Officially dead before it even lived. lol
That's uncertain. It depends on numerous factors, many of which those outside the company won't be privy to.
These include their profit expectations, the extent of loss they can endure will trying to become profitable, how much of a grace period they have before they must start to make good on their funding and the terms by which must do so, and so on.
Whatever interest in the game the exists outside their alpha and beta players is also unknown. That factor will be at least be somewhat observable from those outside looking in.
At least by using subscription only whatever population they end out with will provide a consistent amount of revenue to facilitate any decisions that need be made.
It is not as though they were planning on having a break away success here so they will already have considered how they can persist with modest revenue. Well, assuming they were anywhere near reasonable in their hopes for the game.
Is magic still limited to charge-based items in this game?
No magic technically. Only item I think of that is charge based is Ember Stone with ember essence. I cant think of anything else. Maybe they added something recently not sure.
There are skills that are enhanced by reagents. Although when I played this in beta, they were hard to get for many classes because they were on certain mobs. Also the economy is completed hosed because there is no player vendors or AH to trade.
They pretty much pulled all the magic out of this game. So items are not magical.

Oh no I wasn't disputing. It's pretty much what I expected as I never thought they sold a whole lot of copies and the WorldBreaker Event never broke the world as far as I know.

They removed the /who all command showing more than 100 players, they are trying to hide the numbers now.
It was showing numbers above 100 right up until the moment it officially launched today.
Yeah it was definitely working yesterday. But today its not working. Crowfall did the same thing just before it died. If they had 10k people they definitely would not have changed it I guarantee that.
I watched some gameplay on twitch, it looks really dull for some reason. Maybe it just doesn't stream well, idk.
I did the same thing, Just watched some Streams and Videos.
I really like character creator, that was cool.
The graphics looked fine to me.
But.. not sure how to phrase this, but it came across as anticlimactic.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

It is quite subdued aesthetically, and the pace of play is deliberate rather than swift. As such it may not be the best viewing material and likely won't appeal otherwise to those that prefer vibrant graphics with plentiful effects along with fast-paced play.

Just to play Devil’s Advocate here, are we sure /who all was showing everyone in game and not just in a zone or instance or something?

Yes we are sure, confirmed this with Undone one of the devs in game and in discord.
Just to play Devil’s Advocate here, are we sure /who all was showing everyone in game and not just in a zone or instance or something?
/who all WAS showing all zones and everyone, it also includes Devs and employees. There is an anonymous command it will show them also. I am not sure if there is an invisible command, if there is, then possibly those are not counted.
In the past I used that command exclusively to find people, never once have I seen a case someone wasn't showing up using that command.
Current as of today (not yesterday because I checked that it was showing multiple zones) /who all is showing max of 100, so they changed the code last night.
Currently /who all still shows multiple zones, just caps out at 100 people.
I guess I should have waited until today to report that info. I know the devs monitor this sight because in chat with them they reference things I say here.
I get it, they are hiding the data, things didn't go as planned, same as a lot of new releases unfortunately.
