Further proving you know exactly fuck all about what you are talking about. Was literally gaming with a dude from Singapore and another from Aus last night. Ping was all good, so again, just stop.
I didn't answer because much like you, I don't have a fucking clue what I am talking about with that topic. The big difference is, I know I don't know and you are so arrogant you need people to believe you are some sort of expert on the topic when in reality, you're just an uneducated (on this topic) mouthpiece that won't admit when they are wrong.
Good chat though "programmer".
No, you really can't get good ping between Europe and Australia using normal internet connection. Internet's backbone takes too much time to deliver the message.
Here are some pings between wondernetwork.com servers. You can see that their European servers get very fast pings between each other, Australian servers also get very fast pings between each other, but when these fast servers from Europe and Australia try to communicate with each other the pings are suddenly close to 300ms:

Cool and all, but I was literally in a game last night and it played just fine. You can see my earlier post on the topic.
I think you're lying. Didn't you once say that you're from USA?
You can try that, I will just make another. The thread is really for people that care about the game, but trolls, much like you, just can't resist talking about it. Which is hilarious.
As long as you don't go off the deep end making personal attacks and lying to people instead of discussing the actual topic of the thread(s), I'd have no reason to complain.
Even though I directly have disagreed on tech topics previously, though more so in conversations with Bacon, it's at least been about the topic and not personal argument or attacks.
Same cannot be said for particular others.
Civility is important, and that detail gets lost on people sometimes between their ego and their passion.
idk why you even talk about global shards when that isn't confirmed attm, their confirmed goal is regional shards.
Hence why they announced recently to expand the regions SC covers by adding a new one in Asia.
By this point talking latency is hey everyone knows, that doesn't meant that there ain't global server games like Albion Online that manage that problem with large-scale PvP on top.

So you didn't use net connection between Europe and Australia while playing. And even when I posted actual ping numbers between Europe and Australia you tried to refute them with your lies.
Prediction: Server meshing will turn out to be too complicated in 2024, final version will be PES with Regional servers. Multiple systems will be separate instances and transition will happen 'seamlessly' by a wormhole minigame .I absolutely have no problem with this solution as long as it works.
But there wont be nothing revolutionary about it
There's no logic on that when the same transitions can happen during say a quantum travel, within the same system. Hence... 101 server mesh xD
What is needed to jump systems will end up being the very core ability to transition a player between simulation servers, so no real boogieman there as the static mesh already talked transitioning players during quantum. Most space is empty space you'd never reach without quantum to start with.

I should probably make this clear right now. Complain all you want, however, it better start with the people that came to this thread, an impressions thread and de-railed it to where it is today. Ok? Got it?
This thread is made to discuss with others that actually play the game their impressions of the 3.17 patch. I will not, however, fail to identify liars, and ignorant people that choose to come here, for no other reason than to simply troll these posts.
So, if you're some sort of mod, or just a pro-level post reporter, start there. At any rate, I could not be paid to care less about it.
If you want to limit replies to folks who actually play the game, I'd suggest heading to Spectrum.

Wouldn't have even been here if not for a particular troll tagging me. Wasn't making a statement at you directly as much as a broad one in response to the tagging and implication(s).
While I disagree some with the...zeal you express most of the time, I don't have any inherent issue with you or other posters, and there's no reason to report people in an argument/discussion about the game. Even on the subject of what one calls lies, it can be subjective at times.
I've again, had conversations with Bacon about mechanics of the game, even relating to it's server mesh (or like in this thread early on with the update settings issues and need to manually wipe things that could/should be handled automatically). While that ended up just being a disagreement, it wasn't hostile as such.
I get that gaming is a fandom, and like any fandom you get strong heads for and against stuff. It's important to keep that in mind and be a little self-critical about the way one goes about things.

No, I didn't lie at all. You're just not very good at thinking is all. I live in Hawaii, so my ping (and I said was gaming with my friends from Singapore and Australia, you added Europe for whatever areas) and our pings were just fine. So, you're the liar.

Every post I see on star citizens like undead cancer, imma say something thats gonna trigger people but here are the facts, The game hasn't been finished they have taken half a billion dollars its still buggy its still not done and its 10 years in, these are the facts that everyone knows so far without a shadow of a doubt.
Now here's what we don't know, how much more money do they need, how much longer it will take to finish
Also fun fact it took like only $200 million 5 years and only a team of 40 to make the first wow let that sink in for just for a second now think every backer thats on this forum do you have any idea what you signed up for? I do and its the waiting game a very slow and agonizing one, but hey at least it will be done someday am I right?
At the pace of things you got a few more decades at the very least so sit back relax and play something else in the meantime.
Wow was developed before, inflation calculation is probably needed to do some proper comparison (too drunk to do it now)
That is one of the reason I was comparing it to No Mans Sky - some naysayers would say its a different genre but I would disagree given the lack of features that would separate SC from it at present time. Nevertheless the games were kickstartered in similar period of time - 2012- 2013
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
Difference between Star Citizen and No Man's Sky boils down to intent.
Hello Games intended to make a game that people would want to play. And even with some ridiculous setbacks of their own making, they pushed through and did it. They didn't even nickel and dime for $10-$20 for expansions when they could have, they ate the costs to please the players.
NSM has sold immensely, it has no need to fund its operations with earnings on the hundreds of millions for a studio with 20 somethings employees.
When we put SC and money, we see the money they make being injected back, which is why they are able to grow their company the way they did.
You'll se a big number like oh hey 2020 they crowdfunded 77 million dollars, but if you look at the operative cost for the same year, the number is 80million.
To not be about the game, yet reinvesting so much back into it to the point of ending several years on the red, are not compatible realities. If it was all about the money they would have kept the scale down and pocketed the excess.

Yes, that is a fact...well close. Lets break it down like this.
No, the game is not finished, and in my opinion, it is nowhere near being finished.
Yes, they have raised Half a billion dollars, but for clarification, not all of that has been put into the game at this point. Not untrue, just a touch inaccurate.
Yes, omg yes the Alpha is buggy AF!
Yes, it is 10 years in. Agreed.
That is unknowable. The issue is, I think they have the money to make it right now, it's just a time thing. Some people have said the game should be done already! And I am sure others think that 20 years is an ok amount of time to wait.
Fun fact about WoW. They looked at what other games were doing that people enjoyed and incorporated that into their game. This was said by Blizz shortly after WoW launched. I was there that day, what a bloody buggy friggin mess that was! Nearly unplayable! It took weeks to get the game to a state of decent playability.
As far as funding, WoW (Blizz to be factual) was really not trying anything new, they did improve some things, but really they wanted to make a simple to learn difficult to master game that would appeal to non-gamers. They nailed it.
I am going to disagree with decades (your first opinion) because, in my opinion, I belive we will be playing a mostly complete game by 2030.
I will take part of that suggestion, I love relaxing. And playing SC. I will keep playing it the pre-alpha because I do enjoy it. It's not the only game I am playing, but I swing through there now and then.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

Look I agree that the practice they have in raising money is scummy. I think worst than Pantheon actually BUT I was gifted a 40$ tier so I downloaded it and I have been massively enjoying my time.
soooo... this game releasing anytime soon? it's been 10 years or so.
No, lol no it is not. There is a free fly event coming if you want to check it out, but I cannot recommend buying into it at this time as it's just kind of a mess to play.
IAE 2952 It's a ship sale and expo, all ships in game are available to rent and as I mentioned you can DL and play for free, I think it lasts a couple of weeks.
But yeah, free is all I will recommend at this point.

Oh No Man's Sky isnt a different GENRE. They are both Sci Fi. But it was developed with very different goals. And NMS is full of strangeness. For example if you walk through a portal, somehow your starship will wait at the other end.

That is weird, yes. What I find in NMS that's even weirder is that even though your ship can fly itself to the destination portal without incident, it can't manage an autopilot to avoid 'traffic'. Or lock onto one bit of the 'traffic'.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Sci-fi is broad, the difference is fundamentally one being a space sim, and the other being a sci-fi exploration, Murray himself has justified that with an alternative alien universe with its own physics and laws, so it doesn't worry about something that feels accurate.
That is where they completely split into how they would play.
