Not quite sure, are you saying the range of women's outfits are not enough and everything looks like armour? If that's the case the cash shop has missed the boat. I understand they don't have an "overlay" outfit option so you can wear something "over" your armour, though there may be PvP reasons for that. If they had the overlay, cosmetics would be cooking.

In every guild I have been in, the women buy outfits, lots of them and it must have made the studio a mint. Guys do to, but by my estimation far less.
You can make nice simple linen clothing in the game. The clothing has no stats. I made a dress and bonnet for my character. No point as you can't wear it as a skin, so either run around gimped or don't wear it at all.

Well, they did say "for after battle" so the gimped lack of stats would be irrelevant.

But their whole transmute system is very primitive and extremely lacking compared to other current MMOs. Not only are you restricted to skins from the cash shop or promotions (twitch, prime, events, etc.) but you can't even customize those with the dye system.

They half-assed that part of the game and still haven't done anything about it.

They could have copied the outfit/costume system from ESO and made a lot more bank than only selling skins, when most of the skins look like trash compared to what could be mixed and matched ingame stuff. I have 30,000 of their currency free  ( that they handed out since launch via Twitch packs ) and still won't buy anything from the shop as it's all garbage to me. Yet I have weapons and armor pieces from claims and ingame drops that I could see buying an appearance tab for. Hell, ESO makes bank off people who sub just to be able to dye their weapons and armor.

They seem to despise individuality, from their lackluster character creator options to their shitty skin system.
Funny story, friend of mine joined NW last night and kept commenting how no two players were wearing the same thing.

I told him wait until you get to faction gear, I've been wearing the medium armor "uniform" all the way to 60 pretty much.

I’ve taken to wearing the Children of Light skin over my chestpiece.  It’s a simple white robe.

I like that skin and was wearing it for a while for my healer.

I didn't have your underwear problem though. I can't remember if I had pants skinned or not (probably not since the pants shouldn't show anyway with that chest skin) but try it both ways and one of the two will work.

So, now people have resorted to complaining that there isn't enough gouging from the cash shop?

Seriously, if anything New World has really shown some true colors around here.

I am honestly okay with this.

Prefer it to dedicating significant resources to bullshit that's just going to be stuffed into a cash shop.

If they add in some extra transmog, i'd rather it be based on equipping styles that unlock that transmog.  Since that is highly unlikely with the cash shop they have, I have little desire to see them spend any time working on their "transmogs."

Can't say that NW hasn't improved, but that doesn't mean the game is now good. The game improved from -25 to -12. The endgame is still garbage and boring. When game reaches score of 0, that is when it might be worthy to try out again.

I'd agree that the PvE endgame is the true downfall of NW. It's not even that expeditions aren't fun, because they are. There's just no good reason to keep running them. There's no real higher tier of content and PvP is a joke.

I guess one could argue that the gear treadmill is just getting gear for gear's sake, but that's not the case in some other MMOs where the gear treadmill leads to being able to clear higher-tier content.

Also, the mechanics just aren't there in NW.

But I'm also not a fan of the expertise and GS grind from 500 when you're a fresh 60 to 625. Not a fan of grinding in any MMO and there's just no avoiding it in NW to up that GS.

Indeed they are super-minimal as others have touched on since. I never expected this in a well budgeted game 2020 beyond. No one in any era wore armor 24/7. It just makes the game very bland for me. Nice too see more housing options though.

I played during beta and it did need a lot of work but the idea was interesting. Started playing last week and it's a big difference. I like the game-play and find it very enjoyable. Mounts would be a great idea which I've heard they are working on. Population has be, for the most part helpful to new players. Lots of guides out on optimizing builds. It's become my daily driver.

This looks like a Reddit post saying, hey guys look at the steam charts for new world.

This site really has become awful.

On its own this isn’t really newsworthy, I agree. However, I think this article is a reaction to the many, many, doom and gloom posts and threads here talking about how horrible everything about NW was, how clueless AGS was, and how everybody’s crystal ball was better then others’. I actually thought that phase was when this site became awful for a while. I find this much improved ro be honest. Much like NW really.

    /Cheers,
    Lahnmir

Here's the thing I think is interesting. When they reported that new world tanked lik 90% or something, nobody batted an eye and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. As soon as they report that after a year the game is starting to get some traction back, and according to the post, triple the active players in the past 3 months, people try to call them out as bad reporters or whatever?

Can't have it both ways. I think if people want to see articles about population decline then they should equally have to deal with the cases where the population increases too.

TBH I probably will come back to new world now that I see people are coming back. I left cause of bugs and my guild basically disbanded. If people are coming back, I would jump in for a fresh start server.

Depends of the areas. When you go into an area with acid pools and/or level 66+ mobs you better be careful indeed. No more running in and facerolling, you need to plan your pulls. And that's a good thing in my book.

Its mostly just DPS whining. Most DPS go Light armor and full DPS stat with no Constitution. Yeah, you can kill the normal mobs in 2 seconds but they also can kill you in 2 seconds because you have no health.

At first I was questing in Light armor and full DPS stat and I got wrecked. Switched to a balanced build with lots of Constitution and I could take on several enemies, even elites, and come out with full health.

If there is anything that is overtuned it would be the skeleton archers. They can do a lot of damage. Even in tank build I have to be careful with them. And that is not a bad thing.

The little Endgame tutorial probably doesnt tell you what the endgame is really like when you hit level 60.

The only dungeon you can do is the level 55 one. For the other dungeons people want Gear Score 550 or higher.

Your days are grinding Gypsum and Expertise. The Gypsum grind is not bad but can be annoying. Do your daily activities like gathering, Outpost Rush, Faction tokens, Topaz potion and etc.

Also scan Recruitment chat for posts like "wt mines". That means people are going to do an Elite Chest run (World Tour) at the Scorched Mines in Shattered Mountain. It helps to be in a group by posting "x mines" in Recruitment chat but not necessary as you can just follow the 20 person zerg from Elite chest to Elite chest. The Elite chests give you lots of gear (most of which you will scrap) and random Expertise increases.

All of that is to get Expertise which is just a throttle on your Gear Score. If you buy a GS 600 item and your Expertise for that slot is 500 your actual Gear Score will be 550.

Lastly, you can buy Legendary Gear Score 600 weapons and armor at any time but the affordable stuff has really bad stats.

    Thats the real Endgame guide.

If you make top end look and feel like a grind, players will walk. I know its old fashioned but what about putting some content in?!

Even if players had to redo some top-level quests, again and again (hello AoC, sorta) that would be better than this sort of "resource" grind. You could even have the quests give you resources if that was so essential to the system. Both take time and that's all this is about gameplay wise.
