There are some updates to the announcement that most Blizzard games would suspend service in China in January, due to the company and its partner NetEase not being able to reach a contract extension deal.

You cant make this stuff up. Bill Gates gets a divorce from his wife after allegation of interactions with Epstein. Shortly after, Bill bails out Kotick by announcing they are taking over Activision Blizzard who is head deep in employee tension and sexual misconduct problems.
Activision Blizzards stock gets buoyed by Microsofts plan to buy it. Then Activision Blizzard pulls a stunt where they use customers as leverage against NetEase trying to make them seem like the bad guy. Of course NetEase returns fire. Now 250 million/yr in revenue and a million loyal customers that Microsoft was planning on taking are being used as pawns in a single business transaction.
The corporate world is just brutal. Waiting to see how this effects the merger.

Hopefully the accounts can be transferred to a new publisher if a deal is made.

Your conspiracy theory completely ignores the facts.
Maybe they're sick of letting a Chinese company make a fortune off WOW while they make a fraction of that because of Chinese law does not allow them to operate it themselves.
Meanwhile, Blizzard re-hired bobby kotick to CEO after removing him because he new about sexual abuse at blizzard for years and said nothing.
Archeage EU - Nui
In 2000 he steps down as CEO but remains chairman of the board.
In 2008 he goes from full time to part time at microsoft.
In 2014 he steps down as chairman and becomes tech advisor to the new CEO.
He leaves MS full stop in 2020 to focus on philanthropic endeavors etc etc
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
All correct except the real reason he left in 2020.
He also could not have used Microsoft to help Kotick when Kotic's scandal blew up because by that time he had already left.
We don't know who in Microsoft made that decision to offer $68.7 billion for Activision Blizzard, but we know that Bill Gates couldn't have made it because he didn't have the power to do it.
