Yeah, Steve Clover has been with the team for about 6 months now as a dev and programmer. He's the one that actually designed the current death mechanic. And for those that don't know, he created the name "Everquest." His hiring was an absolute boon for the team.

Steve Clover seems to be a pretty smart guy, but I thought he was more involved in EQ's engine and technical bits rather than design.  As such a late entry to the Pantheon team, what exactly is he going to do?

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Fix the technical bits that aren't working, perhaps?

    Oh, Steve Clover.

I thought you meant Bill Trost.

But, then, I remember he's on New World.

Which is a bad game but it's at least a real game, unlike Pantheon.

That a game has launched and is playable proves that it is real.  But the converse is not true:  there are plenty of games that are real and will launch, but haven't done so yet.

All a matter of what people think the term "real" means, which as with many other conceptual terms is usually more challenging than it should be.

Any game in development may reach a release state, or not. Even major companies that can fund their own projects abandon works in progress.

What may be does not substitute for what is, no matter how promising.

I go back on and off to P99 just wish I could level a bit faster solo. Not always easy to find groups.

They said at the beginning of last year, that they would open alpha at the end of this year, which was last year, but then at the beginning of this year, they said they would open alpha at the end of this year, but this year at mid year they said they would delay the alpha until next year.  At the same time I do believe they plan to release the game 4 years ago.

So if they stay on target and release the game 4 years ago, but don't open alpha until the end of last year, but tell us officially next year that they will stay in pre-alpha for 3 more years does that create a paradox?

I guess we will have to see how that all works out.

‘Paradox: The Rising of the Falling’ would have been a better name in that case. Releasing soon five years ago.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

It's slated for the November following the release of Duke Nukem Forever 2: Forever And A Day.
I heard the release date was the November following the the crossover collaboration between Duke Nukem Forever 2 and Diakatana 2. Actually, to be fair to John Romero he could have released more than 2 Daikatana games in the time Pantheon has been in pre-alpha. Maybe Duke Nukem Forever 2 and Star Fox 3 would be more appropriate.
