2022 wasn't the year of the MMORPG. Not even close. So as we look ahead to 2023, Mitch lays out seven of our most anticipated MMORPGs that (we hope) are coming out next year.

Throne and Liberty I am interested in and believe it has a good chance to release this year, as they just said it's targeted for 1st half of 23. Need to see more actual gameplay later today.
Palia is an interesting concept but I haven't seen many details on it. I suspect that means it will not be a 23 launch, but we will see.

Is there some gameplay coming out today or something? What time?

I could see Alpha 2 in the first quarter of the year and as long as it goes well then I think we could get the betas in the second half of the year. That is a big if, though.
Palia has had multiple closed alphas with NDA this year. I could see it going into early access before the end of 2023. And let's face it, whether we like EA or not (looking around to see if Scot is listening in), EA is pretty much a launch these days.
I think we will see Palia go from closed alphas to open beta to early access release relatively quickly. And then I could see it sit in EA for a couple of years or more.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
I also feel the same way about cash shops. Once there is anything more than a founder's pack for sale, the game is launched. And the same thing goes for any paid expansion packs or dlc. How can you say your game isn't finished if you are adding paid content?
Perhaps 2024 will be a better year for the mmo genre.

As for MMOs...Lineage:Eternal sounds interesting, it all depends on how they pull it off.
The genre is doing fine. Though there is little in the way of new MMORPGs, at least in the western market, there are many stable existing ones. Some of them are quite popular with several others still attracting a fair number of players.
What hasn't been doing well is the effort to expand the MMORPGs on offer, though it seems New World may be turning around from it's earlier misfortunes.
For now New World will be carrying me into the start of 2023, will be interesting to see what else transpires throughout the year.

I want to see more examples of what this engine can do, and hope the benefits of game development benefit from this engine which allows for devs to focus more on game development and world building, rather than building basics, and sorting out logistics.
Also CD project Red is going all in with Unreal engine as well, and might have online elements.
Good to see that years of development in the gaming industry is allowing for better efficiencies which are shared for the benefit of the consumer.

I could even see the reason for not giving it a score in that first review, but I think by early access they need to be scored, that score might change for actual launch of course. I have not mentioned all the extra time this would take you guys, I can't offer a solution to that, it could treble the work done on reviews.
new games that will probably wont make it next year or be rushed
