68 on metacritic. Not interested in Dead Space. Will more then likely pick it up. Plenty of games around that score that I generally enjoyed. Maybe not my favorite games but I am glad I played them
As a Warriors fan, I get not respecting review scores, but I don't get the mindset of actively seeking out games with "mid" scores. Seems like you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Guys just a reminder that politics it not allowed on the forum and that's coming from someone who breaks that rule himself. If we start to veer into slagging each other of and break the politics rule at the same time that's two reasons for them to ban players and close threads. I know our passions run high, but try to reign them in.
Trouble is when you get games that focus on woke virtue signaling, its hard not to make note of that, sadly the protagonist of the game is a black girl, who is a thief and something of a dodgy individual, type casting! But that is offset by a white girl!! being in charge of a black gang! Guess those tick boxes have got to be ticked! It doesn't really get any better by the looks of things, this is not a game that is worth £70, i don't think its even worth half that, particularly as the protagonist is about as likeable as Abbey Smash from Last of us 2. Good grief, where have all the good writers gone!

Many years ago on this site a writer did an article on how MMOS and indeed the gaming industry was moving to the idea that "even the tea boy" could write quests. In other words, any employee of the studio. That's only one big step away from writing lore and back ground. Look at how little gets written on MMOS official pages, a race or class will get a paragraph if its lucky, sometimes I have seen two sentences pass for "lore"!
Well if you check out worthabuy on youtube, he is recording his gameplay and taking the P out of the game, which is probably about as entertaining as this game gets.
So what makes it woke? Because it has a woman of color as the main character? That's not woke, that is diversity. But I forget, to people who use a term like woke as a derogatory insult, diversity is woke and your greatest fear.
What else makes it woke?
See you use woke as an insult, as a tool of hate and ignorance. Woke to me is a compliment. It means the devs cared enough to consider diversity and other "woke" issues when creating the game.
What I find funny is that you think the game is woke, and obviously not something you will play or even care about, but you still bother to come into a thread about the game and comment that its woke. If you found it so woke, why not just ignore it and move along?
And where are you when people whine about anime not being diverse or having black characters, or when a character stops being Japanese and needs to be black for someone else's ID?
Are you for diversity when it stomps on others, such as the harassment of innocent artists who simply create?
Stereotyping a young teen, oh, now she's young, black and a thief.
Chapter 1. "The judge may have had a point, but it's not like I can just change who I am. And if I get caught one more time, my life is over. Which is why I gotta get the hell out of town."
"break-shit" Yeah, because having a black girl spew swears is diversity?
At the start of the game, who is the target demographic, who is it supposed to appeal to? The only place that has that level of generic stereotyping in reality is America, thusly it's appeal is... to Americans? Or what? Why the F would I play this when I could go outside and get the same effect? All it takes is a trip to LA.
And then when it doesn't sell well, who gets the blame? As per usual, it's the gamers who just weren't "interested". It's a game developed by Japanese people, made to the standards of, blatantly put, Westerners, primarily Americans.
What should've been a decent collaborative effort between two countries falling flat, not exactly a good outlook, especially as far as SQEX is involved. Another subpar open world game? Well, open world as a "genre" takes another hit. Every little thing is a potential factor in the long run.
How they write is their assumptions, not a collective of any experience. White people wrote a poor black girl, and then gave her an isekai life.

By the way.
None of the writers are black.
If it really is stereotpyical etc etc, then it seems like the game is actually the opposite of "Woke", then.
No way this game is a 6.5/10, that's way too generous. The writing is terrible, no interesting characters, and the game world is boring and lifeless. The character is annoying and off-putting and it runs shitty too. Game constantly holds your hand. They half-assed almost everything in this game, it's laughable to charge $70 for it. AC Valhalla is a masterpiece by comparison, and that game is mediocre and repetitive asf, but at least playable for a while.
