After reading the whole article all I see is this game failing. Nothing in this article made it sound better then the previous
"not sponsored" articles. The way the dev uses a bunch words to say "we don't know" over and over again. The almost gacha but not really gacha so we won't call it gacha character system. The convoluted ideas they have for multiple characters. The warframe referenced style of crafting which is just a grindy mess unless you wanna open your wallet. And the just amazing number of "like" "you know" phrases. This will for sure be one to avoid.

I'm still trying to figure why they thought 3 person parties were a good idea instead of at least 4, especially while supposedly taking some ideas from Warframe......which has 4 person parties.....at this point, I just dont even see why people would play this instead of Warframe. Outside of just the 'fantasy' setting, it does everything else worse imo.

It looks decent, stylized, though it gives me Crowfall visual vibes which might not be a good thing. Watched my girlfriend play it a little. It seemed empty, combat didn't really feel like it had weight to it, it just seemed too generic. I didn't even know this company was part of the one that made Warframe. Warframe seems better in every way to this if thats the case.

Warframe is the publisher, I don't think they have any say in development at all.

I still think wayfinder will be a good game it just needs a lot of tweaking. Just watching the abilities they feel like they don't really have as much use in a lot of cases. I think they need to give people a lot more choices on the abilities you get cause if everyone is stuck with the same 4 based on the character that's going to get boring real fast.

Sounds like the game will be very small as they keep saying you will constantly replay the old areas again and again, and once you max your character it sounds like you must make a new one to get extra points for your main one, so more grinding.

I dunno. I usually like making alts but not as a way to make another character stronger.

I was initially thinking of trying this game out, but now I may continue to stick to clearing my single player game list that's been growing on Steam over the years. I'm the type of person who likes to player a character that represents who I'd want to be in the fantasy world. I always play a male front-line combatant that wears the heaviest armor and wields a sword and shield, dual wields swords, or a 2-hander sword. Some arcane or divine spells mixed in as well if allowed. I do not like playing female characters (I'm a male IRL and can't identify with a female character in a game) or using weapons that aren't swords. It sounds like I'll be penalized for the way I prefer to play, so picking this game up would be a waste of my time.

I would say it ultimately depends. Warframe does similar with their Warframes, with each having set abilities but utilizing 'mods' (or that game's version of gear) to strength/etc some abilities. The real 'variety' in warframe comes through the weapons you can utilize and how some weapons can interact with some frames' abilities, like a fire-based weapon causing a chain reaction with an ability etc. If this game does that approach (which it doesn't seem like it will so far), then it could help combat the eventually staleness. I really do think a lot of people are hoping DE will help them develop the game since Warframe had a really rough start in some areas (mainly its early days of melee combat and very few projectile weapon types and mod selection) to what it has become now. This game has potential but if they dont make adjustments quick enough, this could sink fast post launch.

It's not an MMORPG, it's probably something like Dragon Nest, Continent of the Ninth Seal and Kritika where you have one lobby where all the players are and from there you launch into instanced dungeons and that's the entirety of the game.

In the very same interview that you are commenting under they are discussing the existence of open world multiplayer zones where people meet randomly. They have somewhat lower limit of players than the standard mmo zones but the design philosophy seems to be that you'll still be constantly meeting players in the open world as you explore.

I don't know of an article where there was more failure to actually state anything.  It's like the interviewee was trying to avoid saying anything concrete.  Choose one side or the other, commit to something.

All I saw was Wildstar, which I liked but the game couldn't hold me for very long.

I really don't see the comparison. I played wildstar, it's nothing like wayfinder in terms of combat. Wayfinder feels closer to something like ... Well.. actually it kind of feels like new world just without the weapon swaps, and faster combat.

The art style doesnt even look that close to wildstar either.  I'm excited to give it a go in May

But, yeah the problem with early access is that you do kind of get bored easily. It's like they might be another year from launch or something and from early access to launch they might eventually get to a full games worth of content but it feels like setting themselves up for a mass exodus when they launch in May with like 3 characters and one zone of content.

I was more referring to the look. I haven't actually played the game so I have no idea how combat "feels".

Yes, finally someone else agrees! I feel exactly the same way. I am male IRL and I prefer to play as male characters too. Though I usually play skinny elves with swords and magic. Most guys that play female characters usually end up as transgenders. I'm not against people wanting to do it, but it happens.

If an MMO today was announced and it had 20 classes and 4 of those classes were race or gender restricted there would be an uproar.

I know this isn't a real MMO, but I find it interesting none the less.

DAoC initially had race locked character classes. It became a classic. Of course, this was 300 years ago.
