Ubisoft is going to have AI write NPC dialog.

I dunno how I feel about AI replacing people who do this. Could be more soulless and pretty cringe.

    The current state of writing in games is not exactly stellar, typically from what I see there are no writers, no people with that job description as what they do. You may see the Creative Director saying he has done some writing or some such, but I have to go back to old school MMOs to the last time I have seen writing as a dedicated role in a MMORPG.

    So I don't think the AI's will do any worse than what we are getting so far, gaming is not a hot bed of writing talent so what is going to be lost?

    Could put those poor concept artists out of a job and man that's like 90 percent of what crowdfunded games show!

    AI will be playing the games too...humans are no longer needed.

    I wouldn't get my hopes up about AI anything since it works on numbers (which is essentially how the higher-ups operate). Chances are AI will just run through a series of 'high target' benchmarks and try to emulate those (again, what higher-ups already want developers to do). If anything, games will end up as Nilden said, a more 'soulless' product.

    Nvidia just recently came out with AI programs.

    Basically every game dev is gonna use this stuff, you can customize "Picasso" to make 3d models for you, and then put them in your game. Presumably "Picasso" could also be trained to make zones, dungeons etc.

    "Nemo" could be used to make endless quests (ever quest?) this stuff is gonna be crazy.

    If you think that games are all mediocre clones now, just wait until you see what AI does.  The goal of AI is to mimic what humans do, so a highly successful AI is one that can make a mediocre clone of what humans do.  And that's a good AI.  It goes down hill from there.

    I  dunno I mean humans come up with some pretty crap stuff...

    Teach the AI with some Shakespeare, Tolkien, Azimov, CS Lewis, Sanderson, Robert Jordan, JK Rowling... and it would probably do a better job than this.

    Not to mention Deep Fake AI... It's pretty crazy to try and tell what is or isn't real...
