Will Blizzard do it again?

fineflufffinefluff Member RarePosts: 561

Multiplayer open world, PVE, Dungeons, Raids, PVP. It sounds like more than a typical survival game. Will Blizzard do it again? Will Blizzard make the next great MMO, the king of MMOs?

"Will Blizzard do it again?"   It totally depends on your definition of 'it'.  Too easy.

It looks like everquest, camelot unchained, fortnight, new world and every other console survival game out there. there graphics are a bit better. I doubt they can reclaim the magic of WoW.

What? Those are some crazy games to be lumping together like they look or play the same.

This isn't the Blizzard that made WoW a success. This is Activision Blizzard.

I could write a huge paragraph with all the scandals, controversy and lawsuits. Needless to say I used to be a huge fan and bought every game they made and played them for years. Now I consider Blizzard a shadow of it's former self more akin to a Blizzard skin suit Activision wears. I expect some new scandal or bad press before a good game.

Is it possible sure? Highly unlikely would be where I toss my hat in the ring.

If they use the 50 man server blueprint crap they can shove the game entirely up their ass. Although both games failed, at least Atlas and Last Oasis tried to innovate on the genre with their server/world setup. I'd like to see Blizzard put a similar spin like those two while giving it their typical polish.

Maybe 6 years into development, so we may not need wait to long to find out. Have to see what balance they strike. Really hope they go lite on the survival stuff.

There is demand for a good survival MMO.  As much as I hate Blizz, they probably will get a decent hit from this.

    Of course not lol.
Blizzard cannot create a story with more depth than a cartoon aimed at 3 year olds.

In addition I am pretty sure they said they wanted to focus on le "social" aspect aka "forced grouping" which means the game is an instant failure since they dont like to accept the fact that many people play mmos with a solo mindset and treat other players as NPCs xd

Will probably have to bookmark this thread for the inevitable "Blizzard Survival MMO sells millions at launch" news story.

Real question is who will admit their mistake and who will grumble "It doesn't matter that they sold millions at launch, everyone will soon leave when they realize how bad the game is"?

Many MMOs have managed millions at launch.

WoW was a bit more of a success than that.

    Aka, see New World.

I smugly revel at how many people play Blizzard games which I totally avoid.

Good rule of thumb, if millions enjoy something, I probably won't.

I've long accepted few have my eclectic, yet superior taste when it comes to gaming.  ;)

The view is great from up here btw.

I mean, I know the game will sell well, Blizz is great at polishing generic content (or at least used to be). Doesn't mean I have to like the company. Nor does that guarantee it'll actually be a good game, but it does have guaranteed sales.

I agree with everything here !!

To add to this, a new game will pick where WoW left off with a child like easy game for 5 year old's with Auto everything and LFG with no challenge and no reasion to group.

I dint think they would know how to make a clasic style game.
Could you imagine the drama within their management ?

The game that was a playerbase of 52 I have enjoyed more than a game that sold millions.

Yes, watching Dr. Who has taught me the government freely offers the masses up for sacrifice to alien invaders.

Do it "again"? Sorry, but why should I care if they ALREADY DID IT ONCE? Hence I already HAVE such a game.
