It's a great little indie mmo.
Yeah ''indie mmo'' is somewhat counterintuitive, normally, as most indie devs trying to do an mmo can't get a game working well or having enough content to hold the game together.
As of the most recent tests, i'm getting 100 fps with maxed settings ( I'm playing on a laptop with a 3070 8g)
These devs seem to have their heads switched on, the game has a bunch of robust gameplay loops ranging from crafting to pve to pvp, exploration/secret discovery, world events and more.
I saw today they will be having a ''free to play'' section of the game at launch where anyone can come and try it (the starter island, which you can get around 20 hours of content from if you did everything, it also includes a dungeon with 3 bosses).
Subscription/cash shop:
This is a live service game, there are multiple devs working on it full time, so there will be continuous updates and improvements, the $10 a month sub is going to be regionally priced so it's fair to people who don't earn as much in their respective countries, from my experience so far you will get far more than your $10 subs worth from this game, if you're on the fence, try it for free.
Cash shop - the devs have stated no p2w nonsense, strictly cosmetics.
It's 2023, everyone is doing cosmetics now, thank god they're not doing any p2w at all unlike some other mmos/devs.
"From what I heard" is not fact.
The game is free to try it.
Imagine opening up your own restaurant and before I even eat there, I post a negative review in the local newspaper. How would you feel? What does that accomplish?
This is just a straight up lie.
I mean, definitely give it a try. But I feel like based on the last test, it still needs a whole lot of work before it's going to start appealing to a lot of players.
As an indie if they only expect a small number of players I think they might get it. It's probably a great game for small guilds looking for something very slow paced.
'oh no, the devs are going to come over to my house and force me to buy totally optional cosmetics, my life is ruined''
ya the multiple full time devs working on the game need to eat and provide for their families, i don't think $10usd a month (also with regional pricing, so probably $5 in a bunch of places) for a live service game with on going support is a lot to ask.
oh - they spend their own money up front to create cosmetics that you can choose to buy?
How terrible of them.
If you don't like cosmetics, dont buy, ezy.
