Lord of the Rings MMO Coming From New World Developer Amazon Games

Not sure their MMO developers actually understand the Philosophy of MMO design, when looking back on how the developers were shocked about the player behavior back in Alpha for New World when it was more like a Rust clone.

    I feel like this a genius move on amazon's part. Frodo can get to the volcano and forge amazon products. Sauron can forge coins. There's no better way to save a realm than manufacturing. I think they can really redesign a great crafting system here. This is a concept that capitalizes on amazons' strengths. I am actually excited to see if they can learn from the failure of New World and conquer the MMO market.

    Always be the guy that paints the house in the dark.  
    Lucidity can be forged with enough liquidity and pharmed for decades with enough compound interest that a reachable profit would never end.

    I'm always happy to see more MMORPGs being made, especially with some decent money behind it. Regardless whether i like it or not, this is a good thing. LotR is one of my favourite IPs!


    Some worries arising from the initial press releases:


    - Coming to PC and Console: this means it'll likely have shallow action combat, which means im out.

    - Features the stories of The Hobbit and LotR: they will never beat how well Turbine managed to integrate the LotR story with being an MMO. So, this is guaranteed to be a negative for the game. Beyond that, it pretty much guarantees it'll be a themepark

    - Made by the same people as New World: maybe they will have learned some lessons and make a good game? Looking at every single other MMO studio, I highly doubt it!
