Sounds like a typical paint-by-numbers expac for ESO which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'll probably dive in at some point and play the new class as well as try out companions because the last time I played ESO those didn't exist. It would be nice to have a pocket healer or tank while out adventuring solo. However, I have no expectation that the game will hold my attention much past hitting max level because that's where I've always hit a brick wall with advancement in ESO and I don't think anything there has changed. That's more of a me issue than an ESO issue just with my casual play style and I run into it with basically any MMO or even MMO-lite. I have no realistic expectation that i'll be raiding or doing any sort of hardcore end game activity that results in continued progress of my character post max level, so that's when I'm typically out.

Is it my imagination or does marketing seem to be in over drive for this expansion.

It just makes me want to play the Skyrim version of it.

I played it on the PTS. Have not really liked the previous two chapters so I have learned to try them out first. I didn't buy High Isle and I'm not buying Necrom. I had bought Blackwood and regretted it. I'm sure for some people the game is progressing nicely. I am not one of those.

It's too much crown store and not enough new. They seem to copy and paste a lot from other parts of the game.

The problem with Necrom is too much green, tentacles and a boring story line.

One other problem was that on the PTS I experienced motion sickness from the constant flashing and the crux which are three triangles of bright green. They constantly rotate all around you. it is disorientating.

I will simply continue to play the game as I have till now. I love the PvP and wish with all my heart they would fix the "stuck in combat" bug.

I'll see it eventually but going up against the Diablo 4 launch, I'm sure has hurt their player numbers tremendously. Nothing they could have done about it though. ESO has its own schedule and they're following it.

Every Expansion is paint by numbers, for practically every MMORPG out there. There is very little that is being released that is pushing the genre forward.

I think the game is the best story-driven MMORPG out there - even better than FFXIV because it doesn't bore you to death with an incredibly slow pace. Everything is decently voice acted. It's easy enough to get around.

The new class seems interesting, but I still feel like Guild Wars 2 is kind of the best implementation of this type of combat system. ESO feels a bit too floaty for my tastes, but I still play it casually for a change of pace. GW2 has that "there's not much for me to do" problem, so it's not something I could play seriously and need other games to fill in the gaps.

Biggest issue I have with ESO is that the entire game feels trivial unless you're doing Trials or some of the harder Veteran Dungeons. The entire open world exists simply because it should. Everything just falls over. They need more Vet-difficulty overland zones. Something like Craglorn, but a little more difficult. The game feels too easy. It's okay to be accessible, but they have taken it a bit overboard in that department.

I shouldn't have to solo group content just to feel a hint of challenge.
