Neverwinter is celebrating ten years in operation, released on PC back in 2013, with console versions coming a few years later. The MMO from Cryptic Studios has seen multiple new modules released, fleshing out the world of the Forgotten Realms in one of the most fully realized digital versions of the realm. We sat down with the developers to talk about 10 years in the MMO.

I would think it's perfect timing. Neverwinter is celebrating 10 years, so what better time to do a 10 year retrospective interview?
As far as the Embracer problems, the willingness to do an interview could mean that they are confident that Neverwinter will be able to weather the coming storm. Or it could just be them putting on a positive face in an attempt to project positivity towards the game's community while they stay up late hoping they aren't on the chopping block. I guess time will tell.
Tbf, EA tried to put a positive spin on the SWTOR team getting downsizes by changing the team entirely......but I'm sure they can make a better game with more frequent updates with less people.....they also tried spinning Anthem with similar words around the 'revamp' and we know how that went in the end....Oddly enough the canned reason was so the team could work on Dragon Age and Mass Effect.....
Or, Neoyoshi, as Mitch mentions, it's simply because of the 10th anniversary. It's a milestone for any MMORPG. I reached out to do the interview weeks ago because the 10th anniversary was coming up and it would make for an interesting feature. Embracer might be happy with the timing of the feature given the other news, but that wasn't even a factor in my mind because this was planned well before the Embracer news was made public.
I should probably reinstall it anyway and see how much the game has changed.
I'm also not super happy about all of these game studios being housed under one roof; it feels like a gaming halfway house where at anytime a game or studio may be asked to leave because they couldn't afford their rent.
I appreciate the article however. EDIT: I will say that despite my hyperbolic feelings about Embracer group; i do like the fact Cryptic is with Gearbox now. I didn't know that until a little while ago when i was curious whether or not Cryptic was still with Perfect World Entertainment; that's how i stumbled upon the Embracer articles.

If they copy pasted (like the latest asset flip trial) the 5 years people would have been extatic
If that is true there has been a heck of a lot of "streamlining", a design over time strategy that rarely makes a game better.
To be fair they are too easy to abuse and that must be on the studios mind.
