Blue Protocol was at Summer Game Fest this year, showing off the MMORPG from Bandai Namco Online and Amazon Games for the first time in English. How does the upcoming anime MMO fare?

I do wonder how leveling works using an alternate class, though. Are all stats reset fully to lvl 1? Do you go back and fight in lvl 1 content to level back up? Are there bonuses to leveling a second class after achieving a certain level in a primary class (like in FFXIV)?
So stats are based on your weapon and your augment echoes you have equipped. We didn't have a ton of time to really dive into those in our preview (we were on a time crunch with this being at a trade show instead of a dedicated location), but these are things that we'll be looking to answer when we have more expanded hands on in the future.

I refuse to play.
Body Types removed, underwear slot removed, outfits and clothing altered, and NPC designs all changed.
I will not play a game that is censored.
Good ole Amazon for you. They did it with Lost Ark and not surprised they're doing it here. Its a shitty worthless gacha game anyway. But the pansies at Amazon can't help themselves trying to virtue signal for all of us like they know better what we want then we supposedly do. I just want artistic vision to remain intact for things I play, read, or watch. If the overseas developers made the game the way Amazon is reshaping it graphically, then cool that was the developers original vision. But the fact they can change it based on their own prudishness disgusts me. Its very similar to how I feel about Blizzard letting China change a lot of their in game graphics in WoW. I really wish overseas developers would stick to their guns when they want to bring a game here and self publish or not allow for any content or graphical changes in other regions (minus payment options/alterations due to how much money is worth in various countries).
Whatever the weapon you use, it is your class. So if you lvl up Blade Warden (sword and shield) to lvl 50, and then switch your weapon to a bow, you become a Keen Strider lvl 1. You would then have to lvl up Keen Strider skills and lvl's all over again, up to lvl 50.
When you lvl up alts, you can take 2 skills from your alt, to your main. Once at lvl 30 and once again at lvl 45.
I was so excited, now It is in the Lotr pile of disdain,
I also wish companies would self publish. I've held the opinion for a while now that there are NO good MMO publishers other than the developers themselves. it rarely happens in the west though and it's a damn shame. Also I don't think WoW operates in China anymore so the changes that had been made no longer mean anything. Tarisland is supposed to be the replacement for WoW in China and that game has myriad issues itself that I won't go in to.
The only tradeoff I've personalized experienced in globalized releases is a bit of spotty text localization; which in comparison to how damaging a fully English localized version of a foreign game can be; the Engrish is the worthy tradeoff.

Tbh the first hours of playing BP I was nosy and excited, but not as long as I thought I would be after all that waiting. Hope you all get, what you expect.
Yes, censor the game to protect the children, but expose said children to rampant gambling.
Meh yuck not a big fan of censorship in games.....

The game looks good, not sure how MMO like it is. But I quoted this to emphasise the lack of priority given to lore in MMOs these days. We are told basically to go and find the lore in game and having heard that one a few times before I can tell you it means there is not much lore to be found.
I would disagree with the sentiment for some games, and BP is likely one where the lore will be built through a combination of story and exploration. From the small story snippets I played, this felt like the early moments of a Tales game, which makes sense given that is also made by Bandai.
I think the two can work in concert together, exploration and exposition, to build out the lore. What I do hope we don't see happen is the requirement to read every scrap of paper or billboard to learn about characters and the world itself.
They'll do exactly what they did with Lost Ark right at launch,
- They'll throw this hugely overdramatized Twitch BP launch party stream;
- Have a bunch of snobby Youtube/Instagram influencers sit at a long dinner table and talk about random things not related to the game/or videogames in general.
- It'll be hosted by that obnoxious multimedia influencer who looks like someone who could be one of those angry mom's in the 80's/90's on Oprah Winfrey screaming about how Mortal Kombat and D&D is corrupting the god-fearing youth, but in the 21st century she's promoting everything from Mortal Kombat to Shark Vacuum cleaners.
-They'll have musical guests such as rappers and they'll try to make it look like they are rapping about a video game.
- Finally they'll wheel out a Golden (fake) throne for the director of Blue Protocol to sit on and butter the director up with a softball Q&A
All this ofcourse is pre-scripted and fans and audience have no impact on what's happening.
Amazon Games are the fucking worst, but they know how to dazzle an audience, or make the audience cringe themselves into the grave.

I do have the feeling these days that many MMO developers are wary of lore, they don't seem to like to put too much in. The only reason I can think they would do that is so that future updates/dlc can have a anything goes approach. But maybe that's just an old lore buff getting paranoid.
