I keep waiting for HMDs to get to the point I'd be willing to shell out the $1000+ they want for one. Thing are starting to move in the right direction but I still think there's at least two more generations to go before I'm buying back into the VR space. I was an early adopter and got the original Vive and the oh ah factor wears off pretty quickly and then your left with this very clumsy piece of equipment that is tedious to set up and tear down so it ends up collecting dust.

Basically I want an HMD that's self tracking and self calibrating. It's wireless but high enough resolution to eliminate screen door, and high enough frame rate to not cause motion sickness. It needs to be light enough that I can wear it for hours without fatigue, and obviously have a comparable battery life. I need to be able to hang it on a hat rack and put it on and off with the same ease as a baseball cap. Then it would get used.

They're not there yet. The ones getting there still require a tether cable to push enough pixels to hit solid resolution and frame rate numbers. If they're light weight they have crap battery life. Still work to do.

Once they get there I'd love to check out a game like this.

Yeah, I had the original vive as well and upgraded to the psvr2. While better, there is still lots of room to grow. The games are getting much better but the hardware is the issue now. I remember almost every game when vive came out was nothing more than tech demos, now there are games. Ilysia looks really good, cant wait to try it out.
