    I'm actually happy there is no preload, that's a frick'n ton of gigabytes we'd have to unpack when it unlocked.

    Oh right, i should go delete my EA savefiles. xD

    The 120GB download will be available worldwide at the same moment. I expect Steam to struggle badly trying to meet the DL demand.

    They should have gone with midnight unlock so the demand would be one timezone at a time but what do I know?

    They should have gone with preload. Maybe they've bought the preload piracy lie. On Xbox it seems like most everything can be preloaded. I already have Starfield installed. It doesn't download all the files as there is still a launch day update, but they don't seem that big.

    Apparently, it's a Steam policy that EA games can't do pre-loads. It seems to me they could have gotten around that by flagging the Released BG3 as a new game you get on top of the EA version.

    But since that's not going to happen, a simultaneous worldwide unlock is just asking for technical problems. They really should have staggered by timezone once they knew they couldn't do a pre-load.

    Well, I for one am somewhat excited. The only other recent release I was excited for was Elden Ring.

    The only saving grace (for me) is that I'll be driving to GenCon when this unlocks. So by the time I return on Sunday, hopefully most of the masses will have already grabbed it.

    Steam was cocking up yesterday a lot when I was trying to play. Must be because of the massive downloading for this game going on.
