Long time no see. I am here again, looking for advice.
I need to let down my second PC to someone else. That requires me to build a brand new PC.
Budget: 2300; I would prefer fitting everything around 2000.
I am looking into building a PC for my dual monitor setup (240 1080p + 4K).
The following picture will show my idea of an upgrade path.
Case: It does not matter much, to be honest. I have Meshify 2, and currently I am not very happy with the front mesh; it is so dusty and it seems impossible to clean it. It is most important to fit all components.
Motherboard: This choice is a bit more difficult for me. I don't require many special features, and I do not overclock much as well. Most important would be having wifi onboard and 5.0 pcie, just for future sake. Looking forward hearing your opinion on this.
CPU: 7800x3D, because it's fast and i like ryzen. High demand does not make it easy on a price, any other options? CPU Cooler: I've heard very good things about Noctua, but if I can save money, great. GPU: I still haven't decided on the GPU to go with. 4090 would be the most appealing GPU. I am sitting still on my RX580 Sapphire; it has lasted me for years and is a very good GPU, but it started struggling a bit. I always planned to upgrade it down the line, but I never did in 6 years now. Of course, the price will make it or break it. This would be a 100% used GPU, and I can potentially get it for 1,200
Another option would be the Sapphire Pulse 7900 XT, which would set me back around 700–800 pounds. But the performance would take a huge hit.
Ram: 32 Gb I am very happy with this amount, and I am not planning to go lower than that. The most important would be speed. 6200 GHz is what I am looking at.
PSU - Anything that can handle 4090. I assume 850W that has gold 80+ would be more than enough. For my Meshify build, I went seasonic; it died midway but they have replaced it. I heard about this new feature for PSI ATX 3.0. Is it worth looking into it? Or is getting a cheap 850 W gold-rated PSU the way to go?
Over all, I want to go with the AM5 platform just because they have the same promise they had with AM4's long support. I can now upgrade my old CPU to 5800x3D and have another 5 years of runtime. So, let me know your opinion about this idea of getting a brand new PC. Upgrade paths and choices I would love to get your advice regarding all of this.
You don't have to buy the 4090. Its .. too expensive and an 4070ti will hold you just as much as an 4090 and can run everything there is today, especially with DLSS 3.0.
I just build a computer almost like that one, but I added a better motherboard ( Asus ROG Z790-H ).
Also I couldn't select DDR5 in the above list, for .. don't know what reason, even tho' this motherboard, supports it : Asus TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard so I added DDR4 as the price is almost the same as DDR5 5600.
There are both DDR4 and DDR5 versions of that motherboard and you selected the DDR4 version.
About the PSU's.... it's looking like the atx 3.0 new 12hpwr 12+4 power plug may be short lived as it looks like it will be replaced with another type a 12 6+6 plug with shorter sense pins and that can also detect if it's not plugged in fully or slips back out over time or some such.
Relevant bit is at around 10:00 min mark.

Thank you to everyone who provided comments. I have reviewed my build and made a few improvements. I've already purchased a few parts for my computer. like a case, a CPU and cooler, storage. Although I am quite decided on the motherboard as well, I would still like to hear your thoughts on it. When I looked into Pcie 5.0, there weren't many reasons for me to choose it. Most of the things I want are present in the Gigabyte Aorus B650M Elite AX. That covers WiFi, PCIe Gen 4 for storage, and even PCIe Gen 5 for expansion in the future when the cost is going to come down. I went for a 2TB 4.0 WD storage for the time being, and adding a few SSDs from an old machine should work.
I'm still undecided in regards to the GPU. Although the 4090 is still pricy, will I actually need that power in the near future? I want to check if there is anything available on the used market for the RX 6000 series from the prior generation. It is difficult to rationalise buying just one 4090 when, for the same money, you could have two nice GPUs. My partner might also wish to get a better one, as we both start to struggle on the games we play with the RX 580, especially with Windows 11.
Furthermore, regarding memory speeds. For ryzen sweet spot would 6000 ram speed so they say. The prices between 5600 and 6000 are not much different so might as well get that?

I ended up with a budget of £2,288.00, Which is reasonable since I decided to buy 4090.

RAM: Corsair vengeance 6400 32gb ddr5
PSU: Corsair 850w Gold
M.2: 4.0 WD_Black SN850X 2TB
I had trouble posting into bios; as you can see, there is an LED on saying that something is wrong with the RAM. But after swapping dims into other slots (It was my mistake), I booted in, updated the bios, and now everything works fine.
One thing I have noticed with the CPU is that it does heat up and ramp up CPU coolers even on ''idle mode. The max temperature was 80C, but from what I read, it is normal for Ryzen. It's not constant heat but when some new task starts in the background. I will most likely reapply thermal paste just to make sure it's not my error.
I used to play for years on 20–30 fps more demanding games. Now this PC smokes everything like nothing. I can stream, record, and have two games in the background. I did not have any issues at all.
Regarding high power consumption, Gaming Trio comes with 3 instead of 4 cables, so it is naturally lower. But you can tell the difference between 580 and 4090. But next month's bill will tell me more, as I have a smart metre that I can monitor for increases.

Whats the temps on idle? Max temp 80c is pretty decent. Hope you didn't forgot to remove the .. "case" from the cooler
Anyway, I would have gone with a different CPU for that price.
About your PSU..you should have definitely gone with 1000W one. 850W its..pretty on-limit.
All in all, its an amazing upgrade ( coming from 20-30 fps ) and a very good computer nontheless.
Hopefully you will play at least in 1440p, because if you play on 1080p this is way overkill of a computer !

These are the temperatures under load; the maximum I have seen was 89.
I completely understand the overkill thing, but it does not feel so since I still cannot reach 240 fps with certain games, not even considering ray tracing.

Reaching 240 FPS is .. not going to happen on many games. Not because your computer is bad, but well .. 240 FPS is very hard to reach, especially in games such as Cyberpunk 2077.
Anyway, do a stress test on CinebenchR23 . Multiple cores. See how much the temps go up.
For me, with 13700KF , on the first try, it reached 100c within 30 seconds. I had to remove cooler, add some extra pasta, etc. Now in CinebenchR23 I'm reaching around 94-95c.
