World of Warcraft Classic will be getting Hardcore on August 24th. Blizzard is getting everyone ready for what to expect, what to do beforehand, and what changes particular to the Hardcore mode you'll find.

Can't wait to hear about all the whining and complaints from softie players didn't like the way they died.

The entire reason why hardcore is a thing in ARPGs is that in a (good) ARPG, leveling is quick, and fun.

In my experiece bots aren't very good at staying alive.
I'm still uncertain if I'll download the game and subscribe for this. RMT and the culture on Classic servers is a HUGE turn off for me and the way Blizzard has handled their IP's in the last 10 years has broken any trust or brand loyalty I once had in the 2000's. They're a billion-dollar company and can afford to hire in game GM's to help take care of bots, but they don't.
So I'll probably pass on this. I recently picked up Hogwart's Legacy and I'm enjoying it. I still haven't picked up Baldur's Gate 3 and soon Starfield will release. Besides all of those games, I still have 14 more single player games I've bought and never played on my Steam list that I want to work through as well. I neglected single player games since I got into MMO's in 2001. So I had a huge backlog I've been working through the last several years. This is all more appealing to me than investing my time into a hardcore realm that will likely be taken over by bots and their RMT customer using community. I don't mind losing my character, but working to get to 60 and being unable to play the game because I refuse to swipe my card to compete in GDKP's is a non-starter for me.
A lot of people prefer the journey over the destination in MMORPG's and hardcore makes that playstyle relevant for the first time since the early 2000's when you'd spend most of your time leveling up characters. Post 2004 MMORPG's have had easy leveling that's only been sped up over the years, making the endgame where you spend most of your time. End game is just repeating the same few dungeons and raids, and/or repeating daily quests.
I was planning on playing hardcore and randomizing my characters to test my ability to adapt to the build while also avoiding death. However, since they're allowing AH and mail, RMT will happen and will destroy the server like all other classic servers have been ruined by it. So why bother?
Why do you care? I mean you should force yourself to play without trading. So .. why do you care? Oh, because Johnny is using AH and might level faster to 60 than you?! Its that what Hardcore means ?
Bots and RMT was always a problem in WoW. No difference here, but as I said, don't use AH and Trade and you will be ok.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
MMORPG's are social games, so sharing your achievements and having that common bond of the struggle is part of it. When people aren't playing by the same rules, it trivializes your accomplishment. Your argument is stale, old, and tone deaf to what people care about. You may not care, but other people care about being on an equal playing field. It's the same sentiment used when arguing against P2W mechanics in video games.
Anyways, it's not about leveling to 60 faster, because there are classes/specs that can do that all by themselves. It's about reaching 60 to begin with. Being able to trade your alts gear and gold trivializes the challenge. But it also opens up a market for RMT. RMT is most impactful at the end game, where people are working together to get raid ready and then raid. BOTs/RMT impact that part of the game substantially. I'd rather play on a server where that's not an issue, because you can't trade gold or items, thus eliminating the market for RMT. It makes the dungeons and raids that much more challenging because everyone is struggling. There wouldn't be any twinks trivializing the challenge in your group, because there's no market to twink.
"When people aren't playing by the same rules"?!
Most of the people WILL play by the same rules, while SOME will, well .. use botting, gold buying etc ..........just like in every big MMORPG.
I didn't read the rest, sorry, but ...have you been living under a rock? As I said, most big MMORPGs have this kind of issues with bots and RMT. Restricting the majority of players from using trade and AH because of SOME ( and because players like you can't put a self limit to not use AH or use trade ) , is ..pathetic.
I want to use trade and AH. If a weapon drops which isn't for me but is good, I would sell it to AH and then with the gold I will buy a weapon for my class. But based on your .. ideology, I should not be able to do that because there will be some..bots and rmt , and Blizzard should block Trade and AH for every player....right?
/facepalm

Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Yes yes, I did read.
Basically is : We should all play the game based on your ideology, else it's a failed game.
No. You play it like everyone else, or go to private servers.
Trading and AH should stay because mostly, will be used by legit players.
I like to send gear to my alts and still keep it "a challenge". But .. again, please, feel free to not using any gear to send to your alts, not using AH and also not using trade. Self limit , please. Do not put a limit for all because .."insert QQ here".
About RMT, it is what it is. They will always exist. I hate companies which block important features for every single player out there because...some are using RMT or bots.
Self limit. Oh, did I said this already ? Use your own rules. Problem solved.
EDIT: And about this part "MMORPG's are social games, so sharing your achievements and having that common bond of the struggle is part of it. "
LOL. You want to play the game single player mode but at the end of the day you call it a MMORPG and you want to flex your single player achievements? Yes, MMORPG are social games. AH and Trade is part of ..well, social.

Once RMT is in full swing and players are sending gold and items via mail to their alts, it will no longer be a challenge. This impacts all players, including those you want to create their own self restrictions. Meta's will spring up only allowing twinks in their dungeon and raid groups, GDPS's will be in full swing again, and the achievement of getting to 60 the hard way will be meaningless. So, I won't bother, and it seems like a lot of people aren't happy about this based on their official forums.
