If bots and what other people are doing don't matter, then why does there need to be an official HC realm anyway? Why can't everyone just keep playing on normal realms with their own self-imposed rules like people were already doing? If Blizzard doesn't take bots and rmt on these realms seriously, then what will be the point of them? BTW, the community HC rules included no trading and no AH. https://classichardcore.com/rules/
But what's the point of an MMO + Hardcore then? Regardless, imho, that is a very difficult pairing to begin with, but if you start taking away MMO elements ... ?
Apparently enough people found value in playing that way for them to become an addressable market for Blizzard.
Regarding the AH, to me the concept of it is potentially even anti-mmo because it takes away a level of social interaction that you would otherwise have with just player-to-player trading, so I don't think there has to be one, but it kind of goes into a philosophical discussion about what features a game absolutely needs to have to be considered an MMO. Does the game need to have an trading? Does it need to have grouping? Is simply being in a large scale shared virtual environment enough?
In the case of HC WoW, you will still be playing in a world with others, talking, competing, and assisting even if trading was disabled, so there is still a level of interaction. I'd argue what really makes HC interesting is the fact that you have other players you can compare yourself against and be acknowledged by, giving you a sense of comradery from the shared struggle. I would guess that most players would find HC more compelling in an MMO like WoW than in a single player game.
Anyway, the actual issue is with RMT. If Blizzard actually does something about it to ensure the integrity of the server, then trading and AH is not as big of a deal, but I don't have a lot of faith that they will.

Based on their actions or inactions, I have no faith that they'll address botting or RMT. Players are/were openly using cheats, using RMT to fund GDKP's, and despite Blizzard's "efforts" to get rid of bots, they're still there. Now if they hired in-game GM's, like they used to have, then I'd reconsider.
Any of you all can quote me and in 3 months return to this discussion. The server will have botting, players will participate in RMT, and in 3 months you'll be hard pressed to find any "fresh" characters that isn't twinked out with leveling gear, bags, and consumables. Hitting 60 on this HC server is meaningless, because people can cheat their way there or trivialize the experience through twinking.
Once RMT is in full swing and players are sending gold and items via mail to their alts, it will no longer be a challenge. This impacts all players, including those you want to create their own self restrictions. Meta's will spring up only allowing twinks in their dungeon and raid groups, GDPS's will be in full swing again, and the achievement of getting to 60 the hard way will be meaningless. So, I won't bother, and it seems like a lot of people aren't happy about this based on their official forums.
How? How does this impact you? You are literally playing WoW as a single player game in HC. The achievement of getting to 60 the hard way will be meaningless? "Dude", what the hell are you talking about? You want "confirmation" from others that you got to 60 the hard way ( whatever that means ) ?!
Anyway, glad you won't bother. Go back to single player games because MMORPG's are social games, so sharing your achievements and having that common bond of the struggle is part of it.
..and it seems you want to play it as a single player game with zero interaction with others or little to none. And at the end of the day to flex your achievements to... others.

Why not? And I didn't say it doesn't matter. It matters but not like "I won't bother because there will be some bots and some people using rmt".
HC official servers are a good way and from here Blizzard can improve it quiet a bit.
About https://classichardcore.com/rules/ its exactly what I told to the guy above. Anyone can play on the HC servers and if a rule you like isn't "officially" supported, well ... feel free to limit it yourself. Why do you want to limit it to me .. here is the problem. Play it your way and I play it my way.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!

I could say the same thing but the other way around: HC realms should have trade restrictions to prevent RMT, but if you want to do HC with trade, you can go play on a normal realm with your own ruleset. You can get the experience you want right now playing on a normal realm. No need for you to play on the HC realm with trade restrictions.
By not limiting trade, official HC realms don't really offer a better experience than playing on a normal realm. In fact, it might even be a worse experience because 1) no pvp so you can't kill bots and 2) dungeons have a 24 hour lockout so bots will be farming the open world.
By all means, play it and enjoy it. I am just saying that there isn't much point of HC realms over normal realms for HC players if Blizzard does not seriously do something about RMT. By not limiting trade, they are losing the opportunity to actually offer a unique experience, which is disappointing.
