New maps and rewards are cool, but what about revisiting the older and uglier content that repeats few times each day feeling like a meaningless simulation, cool only for the first few times? What about new gameplay ideas and mechanics, beyond repeating same events and farming currency for nothing worthwhile? Eh, I wish this game had a spinoff, but actually ambitious, further beyond what 2010s had to offer in terms of gameplay loop and ideas.

Pretty pleased with everything so far. If ANet can actually keep up the cadence of one of these expansions every year like they promised, they can gain my trust back! :]

I believe they'll keep up with the annual expansion cadence and provide consistent releases every 3 months.

So is this GW2's version of WoW's Dragonflight? I know GW2 is an older game now but I think it still looked darn good.

Wait, you play mmorpg games for graphics?

Please explain to me which mmorpg in 2023 has AAA graphics. I currently don't play gw2 but im just interested in knowing which mmo has good graphics because as far as I know people play mmo games for the mmo experience not graphics.

I think any one that wants better gfx just uses mods/reshades these days to suit their style of graphics preference for older games, heck even oldschool runescape has plugins to make graphics look better.

Why are You defending devs for being too lazy to refine their craft? It's as if You said "The fact that Messenger is getting more bloated each year doesn't prevent You from chatting" or "If You don't like YT ads, just install custom app to make it more consumer friendly".
Being an MMO isn't an excuse at all. It's a game with an artstyle and perceived graphic fidelity, and in case of GW2, if You take core map vs latest one You can see a stark contrast. Flat textures and simple meshes all over. Newer maps of course do share some of it, but clearly, they don't look back at the old content like they should.

    Mortal Online 2 - Single A

Destiny 2 - Not an MMO. Seriously, it matters.

Star Citizen - It's one of the reasons the game is unplayable

    Gloria Victis - Single A

Lost Ark - You got me, they got good lighting, the best you can do for an ARPG. Don't zoom in though!

Archeage - Not AAA graphics at all

Black Desert - Maybe in Photo Mode, sure

Tower of Fantasy, Genshin Impact - Cel shading is "AAA graphics" now? There's a reason weeb games, every single one of them, all look exactly the same

Any real examples? He's approaching the question wrong. It's fine to play games for graphics. The reason why he's correct in his idea is that MMO remasters don't happen.

They'll add low impact improvements here and there, which GW2 did by upgrading their renderer selection with DX11 and 12 when they came out, super stabilizing the framerate at higher settings for modern GPUs. WoW will add lighting fx, this other one will add lighting fx, lighting lighting lighting. BDO says "Remastered" but the graphics didn't change.

10+ years old games just don't ever *really* upgrade graphically lmao
