done with diablo iv. Super boring game once you beat the campaign. Will be playing starfield.
How's the campaign for a few playthroughs?
You only have to play through it once. After that you can choose to skip it, but you can also choose to do it again on a new character. I enjoyed it. It was pretty dark even for a diablo story. I thought Tyrael from D3 was a vastly more interesting and heroic character than Inarius. Granted that explains why Tyrael was on the Angiris Council and Inarius was banished to Sanctuary for being a traitor, so it's not necessarily a flaw in the lore. Inarius is an agelic turd, basically, and does nothing to help fix all the problems he created. Rather, he just makes them all worse. The more you interact with him the more you realize he was banished for good reasons.
That being said I doubt the campaign is going to win any awards. It's a serviceable excuse to go kill everything in sight, nothing more.
I am the silent majority still enjoying this game.
Then again, I no longer have much time for gaming like I did 23 years ago when D2 came out. If that were the case, I'd probably be unhappy, too. But as it stands, I am happy if I can squeeze in 5 hours per week and for that it's perfect.
OMG that is unheard off for Blizzard to reduce the price of a Diablo game so early.
D4 is on sale this early because Baldur's Gate 3 has been mopping the floor with it, and Starfield is about to take an additional massive beating to it. D4's population (and hype) has dropped off heavily ever since the patch the devs had to do an emergency livestream about.
Blizzard has moved to a new strategy in terms of sales. D2R went on sale much earlier than I expected as they don't get extra money from MTX. Dragonflight went on sale like one month after launch.
I actually expected a sale like this by September and also expect a 50% sale for xmas. They have battlepasses and MTX to try and sell as well as expansions.

I'm not sure how you can claim to be in the majority when no one outside Blizzard is privy to active player counts. One thing the public does have access to is Twitch viewership, and those numbers indicate that interest in D4 is in the toilet.
One does not put a game on sale three months after release if its numbers are healthy. Blizzard games across the board are struggling to hold players' attention. They have been steadily headed in this direction ever since the Activision takeover, and it's only going to continue. They are more interested in cashing in on the easy sales from a known IP than in making interesting new products.
I would actually recommend you to play Diablo 1. There is an engine port called DevilutionX that is butter smooth. Or Beelzebub mod if you want less vanilla experience.

Love it to bits!
You can also play D1 in D3 every January. It's done as a special event called The Darkening of Tristram

Thank you. I feel like D3 is needlessly demonized. It has come far from its very mild vanilla launch state.
I just find D4 kinda pointless. D1 is simple and direct, D2 is more open and complex and D3 is a really good action game. D4 ... ??? . Open World?
