How does it compare to No Man's Sky? What reason would I have to leave No Man's Sky for this? Genuine question, I try not to follow any games in develoment and usually tune in shortly before release..
Waitiing to log in and see how it compairs with Earth and Beyond for exploring and how it plays comparied to a non-PvP version of Eve for learning how to do things in game.

I think it depends on what you prefer in No Man's Sky.
No Man's Sky seems to be an exploration game through and through with I assume designing your own ships and bases (?)
Starfield seems to be a narrative game with characters, side quests that has exploration, base building and ship building.
I like in the ACG review where he noted that a ship had landed and he thought this was going to be an automatic fight but was instead just a crew doing their own thing and that was it. Makes it seem more like a read "world" than just encounters for fighting.

I'm not quitting my beloved NMS. I can do both. I still play Skryim and FO4. When I stop playing those games it's because I will have done all that I want with them.
While it's a valid review I think it's weird. Who the heck was compare Starfield to games like No Man's Sky and Elite Dangerous? In no way did I ever get that from anything the company said.
The only thing that comes as a disappointment given what the company said is that you can't just "keep going" on a planet and instead it's a generated map with boundaries.
Other than that the comparison is just over the top.

It's amazing to see Mortismal's rise. I remember that when I discovered him, he was more obscure than known. It's good to see people succeed doing something they love doing.

Yeah. I like him a lot. He takes game coverage seriously, puts in a lot of work, and is very good about maintaining his objectivity.
His BG3 coverage has also been outstanding.

It hasn't got the best reviews from what I have read. IGN, Gamespot and PC Gamer all gave it a 7/10 or 75/100 for PC Gamer..It will be a discount buy for me, next year sometime
Seems like something I would enjoy, except it's single player. I can only hope for an evolution that brings MMO. It's been done, so there might be hope for me.

I don't need MMO, but some kind of multiplayer would be awesome.

After playing Fallout 4 for the last week or so, and then watching someone play Starfield today, I can tell there's definitely similarities and vibes. I was anticipating seeing S.P.E.C.I.A.L. some where along the way, lol.
Since my brother gifted me the game on Steam, I guess I'll be playing it on release. Otherwise, I'd have waited until it hit a 50% off sale down the road. I don't like how expensive games are these days. $30 is about my max, $10-$20 is my comfort zone.
Watched some streamer friend play from noon to like 8:30pm on and off while doing house work and it looked pretty fun to me fps combat looked solid and so did the space combat.
I would stick this somewhere in between NMS and SC. In terms of space combat it is less simmy than SC but better than NMS which has lets be frank kind of shitty space combat.
FPS looked good but it is hard to tell from just watching but looked better than say Mass Effect Andromeda but maybe not quite as good as Destiny perhaps.
Ship building looks fun and involved but the streamer didn't get into base building but looks good to me, I think I may be spending some time in this one.
Oh btw the planets didn't look or "feel" empty with lots people walking around the settlements etc.
Keep in mind I wasn't glued in front of my TV while this was playing all day so I may have missed some stuff.
Looking to be kind of what I was expecting tbh which makes me happy.
Can be played with a hotas though not natively so you need to use some kind of rebinding program like x360ce.
Btw there already a mod that adds DLSS 2 on nexus....lol
It will definitely need and encumbrance mod IMO lmao
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I've just recently talked with a friend of mine about how absolutely insane his output is and all of that while even 100%ing those games + creating a good videos which is no small feat aswell. Always top quality content, same as ACG. Now I'm still curious what my favourite AAA complainer 'WorthABuy' has to say

Ah yes IGN, Gamespot and PC Gamer the holy trinity of quality reviews...
1. The Visuals looks really great. Character models are underwhelming for 2023.
2. The Voice acting is... not great. It was probably not in their favour to release after Baldur's Gate 3.
3. The UI (as a UX guy) looks very clean. Some parts are not super intuitive, but alright.
4. Flying and ships looks and seem to feel great.
5. The AI is abyssmal. This is the worst part by far and probably my biggest turn off and why I won't grab it in the near future.
6. Gunplay is bland. I think they should have stuck with the Fallout way of doing it and improve on that system. The competition among FPS games is probably at an all time high. This one doesn't even compare to older borderlands games.
All in all - Alright and I'm whelmed. If I were to pick this up, I think I would grow bored of it eventually. A bit like I did with Witcher 3 after about 5 attempts to proceed the story.
I'll check the review you guys posted. Maybe things improve the further in you get.

Those reviews count, as does any other. I am always more interested in the reviews that give a score decidedly below average than ones that give out 100. Those low score reviews will tell you what you need to know and help you avoid pet hates. Having looked over the low reviews I find nothing that will be a problem for me or won't be sorted out by the time I buy the game. But I would recommend anyone buying to look at them, maybe some of the issues raised would be a show stopper for you.
First impressions from playing the game. It's a Bethesda game in space. I like it a lot so far.
It has its own feel, but it's also familiar in a good way. Menus, object interaction, how saves work, and other stuff feels familiar, but not the same. It's comfortable without feeling stale. I'm focused on the adventure not learning a UI.
The character creation backstories are cool and really lean into the RPG. I'd like to see it expanded on in the future. Maybe modders can add some too?
It feels nothing like No Man's Sky to me. They both have space ships, lasers, and scanners, but so do Star Wars, Firefly, and Star Trek and no one would say they feel the same. NMS is a science fantasy sandbox adventure game. Starfield is a low fantasy science fiction RPG with an open world like Fallout or Elder Scrolls.
Literally everything has a load screen in this game. Starfiled: Loadscreen simulator. Can't get any more immersion breaking than this.
The graphics are also mehh! Space is way too oversaturated/bright! It's supposed to be dark (deep black not grey!) and cold! Complete lack of HDR isn't doing this game any favors either. No HDR support in 2023? Come on Bethesda! It's not 2010 anymore! /shrug
I guess, this is what the critics meant, with the game just feeling too safe...no sense/feeling of any danger at all at any time. That travel in space in Starfield doesn't feel dangerous/scary at all.
When everything is so bright.... it just doesn't feel like Space at all.
So far, I am not sold on this game and actually disappointed in what I have seen so far. Glad I can try it out for free next week with on GamePass, if I am even going to bother, as the game has the immersion level of a potato.
