They have sacrificed too much for VR, I hope that's a selling point for them its an overall negative for players like me.
Are they selling early access or giving it to existing testers or backers selling it like another crowd funding type thing?... or are you simply buying the game before release?
I guess it kind of reminds me of the early days of MMORPGs where games had a few bugs due to the genre being new, so a few bugs won't bother me if the overall game is good.

I don't know, the VR graphics just look below what I would accept. As long as you wait of the reviews you can't go wrong though. That's where I think players are getting caught out and not just here in AAA as well.
As someone who played the beta... they are making a HUGE mistake even thinking about putting this out anytime soon. It needs at the very least another year before it's in acceptable condition, but they are willfully making the exact same mistake Zenith did, release in EA missing tons of basic features and hoping people will hang on for years or suddenly come back in droves after is finally at a decent pace (but will likely ditch it weeks after they find out it needs so much damn work).
They fully changed their back end from A2 to B1 which took nearly a year (iirc) and barely tested it, so beta was just a big step back in multiple ways. They also without noticed changed their entries class/skill system and just sprung it on people l, then when everyone complained re implemented a poorly and very quickly (like 2-3 days) version of the old system which was a complete mess.
Now they think less than a month later they have done enough to show the public who most of them have not been following it closely and will drop it like a hot turd shortly after buying it (even if it says "Early Access" (just like Zenith) and be hanging by a thread a few months later.

They are doing what Zenith did at least on steam and selling the game as Early Access. It's no were near ready for public consumption or money for that matter (if it was free, that would be a different story) so expect the same deal as Zenith, a big initial rush, then nearly dead a few months in

So early access is becoming a last hurrah for cash before studios close a game, why am I not surprised?

I stopped looking too much into the graphics of VR games. The way they look in game compared to how they look when seeing them on a flat monitor is vastly different.

That would be unfortunate. I've been looking forward to this game for a while. I suppose it all depends on how much you want to support an idea compared to just wanting to play.
I remember seeing the graphics of Asheron's Call thinking the sucked, but the game wasn't about the graphics. It was a bout the gameplay. A lot of MMOs suffered in the graphics department and had a ton of bugs and glitches, but we supported the idea of what they were. The genre exploded (then imploded ten years later). I see this as the same.
I'm ok supporting a game that may have bugs because I really think the VR MMO is the future of MMOs, maybe for gaming in general. That mindset isn't for everyone.

It seems they are in need of the money from what they have said (Ive been following their discord for a few months now) and are ignoring the plees to hold out (even from going from beta 1 to 2).
I sunk a reasonable amount for time into both betas and have played plenty of the other 2 VRMMOs (Zenith and Orbus) so I feel like I have a good understanding of them. This in B2 felt the most unpolished and lacked just as much if not more content than the others. It was super bog standard in most every way (very generic fantasy, boring quest hubbing leveling, very basic at best combat.. ect)
They have tons of great ideas that get me excited, but it's gonna take a TON of work and time to get done, which I think they won't have when people drop this game like a hot turd when they realize this needs years of work to be worth while.

For me the graphics don't matter as much in VR due to everything being built with older mobile tech in mind, it's just not gonna ever be close to what a console/PC can do and will take a while before the base line standard is considered pretty good.
Like I said to the last response, I love their ideas and have been looking forward to this for years, more so after Zeniths disappointment. The problem is I played it less than a month ago and it was in such poor shape and so utterly bare bones. They spent the better part of a year doing nothing but back end work and nothing on the gameplay/mechanics itself. Do I want it to succeed and be what their vision is? Hell yah, I want a solid VRMMO just as much as the next person and they had the most promising vision from the start... but damn it's just nowhere near that. You really don't have to be a game dev to understand how much work it would take to just get half of the stuff they want in there, hell just some basic stuff they still don't have (crafting, trading or any sort of economy between players, a not total crap class system, promised systems like the carvans or titans)
I saw this same thing with Zenith and how basic stuff like that wasn't there, just planned and over a year later there is still a lot of it missing. Now look at it, the servers are mostly empty and I'm sure they are praying to whatever God that the "full release" push will bring that massive amount of people who ditched it back (it won't).
I guess I'm in the minority here. I've played several very polished AAA MMORPGs that were just garbage. Being bug free and graphically stunning are less important that the idea of the game and the gameplay. Most of the MMOs that I've grown to love over the years had horrible launches and were full of bugs, especially early on.
I have no problem supporting a flawed game that is trying to pioneer a new genre over a polished AAA game that's a copy of every other game over the last 20 years.

i agree but we have seen so few successes from indie/crowd funded MMOs. I think caution is justifiable until we see reviews.

Yes, this has all the ingredients required for an abysmal failure.

I'll wait for the next one I guess.
