The games industry is going through a time of troubles right now with multiple studios laying off their staff members recently, and it seems no one is really safe. Reports today show layoffs from Sony studio Naughty Dog, as well as at Twitch, while yesterday saw layoffs at Team17.

Aren't we talking about "developer" jobs being outsourced abroad? That's what the article suggested.

First start with an unpopular war, throw in a bunch of government assistance programs paid for by government's printing money, which triggers high inflation, scaring investors which causes a bear market, scaring employers who cut back or slow down on hiring, workers start going on strike which reduces consumer spending and saving, triggering a recession or even depression.
It's almost as if that business cycle that I was taught when I was an Econ Major in University might actually be real?

Try project and product management, engineering, IT jobs. Many large companies are outsourcing those jobs or creating what they call "strategic locations" now and are offering severances to employees of 20+ years. I have first hand knowledge of this. In some cases move and keep your job, or take a severance. A lot of offerings in India, but they are reducing footprints in the US and selling off physical assets such as buildings, and reducing remote work for folks in the US as well. It's not just QA and customer service like it was 10 years ago.
