Here, let me help you with a simple google search. Everything I said is all over the internet. I dont get the rudeness when your the one who posted info that had nothing to do with the 7800 XT vs the 4070. Thats the card AMD has decided to mark the card as its competitor. Im not knocking the 7800 XT, just pointing out the pros and cons. I have already said further up in the thread where I think the 7800 XT will win over the 4070 but that did not garner any negative response =) That makes me think your just defending blindly for what ever reason.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database
Not defending anything just criticizing your assertion that the 4700 "kills AMD power consumption" with zero real-world data to back it up because the card has not even been released.

Only data I used is what AMD has release on their specs for the 7800 XT. Call that made up BS but then your just knocking AMD for lying to us about the fact their card uses between 25-40% more power. Pull out a calculator and do the math, its not hard. the 7800 XT by AMD spec sheet win in VRAM and bus. Nvidia is better at drivers and adding AI to their cards. Really comes down to what matters. I am pointing out the power consumption because $100 savings over the 4070, 2-4 years later may not be savings when you think about the power bills. But sure, maybe AMD is lying that their card uses more power lol

Does it use more power at 1440p for the one game you have so thoroughly tested and claim to never go above 100W consumption on your 4700? lol

Your right, as I said in my post, some of the top end reviews said they guess at 1440p it will most likely use about 140-160w. But sure, lets nit pick on the fact I did say this was their guess. Still this card is using last gens power consumption and we know under full load max settings, the 7800 XT will be using 25% more power. If you dont see that, your really just picking a fight for no reason. If you cant admit this card will use more power, then the discussion is over. But as my wife says, you do you boo! lol

No offense to your superpower of predicting things based on your own experience with a 1440p game but I think I'll wait to see what the real-world aggregate performance with 1000s of samples is before calling it a "kill."

But you and your wife can do you.

And like I said, I'm happy for you that you love your new 4700 to bits.

Different vendors sometimes use power numbers to mean very different things.  For example, look at desktop CPUs.  The TDP that AMD cites means that the CPU will use almost exactly 35% more than that number under heavy loads.  Why 35%?  I don't know.  The TDP that Intel cites doesn't mean anything at all unless you get an OEM box that throttles it back, and you have to look at the PL2 power instead.

I wonder how vendor versions of 7800 are going to look and perform like.

I have an RTX 3090. AMD is offering the better Gpus in my opinion. When I switched from AMD Vega Frontier to the RTX 3090, I was disappointed with how the GPU performed and the User experience nVidia offers compared to AMD. By all metrics the RTX 3090 offered atleast double what the Vega Frontier could, but it didn't feel like it in Gameplay or within CAD work flows.
If you cool the card properly and give it sufficient power, it doesn't really matter if the GPU is green or red. But the user experience is vastly different with AMD. They also perform better with console ports.

So, which are some good custom manufacturer models? Besides Sapphire, ofc.

    I'd recommend this:
      https://www.newegg.com/powercolor-radeon-rx-7800-xt-rx7800xt-16g-l-oc/p/N82E16814131821

It's just 20$ above the lowest priced model (on newegg.com), and it got really good results in techpowerup.com's temperature and noise level test:

Powercolor don't exactly inspire confidence in me tbh.

Why not? I've only heard about them for a few years, but they have a reputation as a good value product balancing cost, performance, and materials. There are better brands, but they tend to be boutique or a popular named brand that commands a much higher price.

You said it yourself. They tend to be second class. Especially when compared to Sapphire.

They are competitive with Sapphire (Pulse) and ASUS (TUF) mid-tier offerings too. The PowerColor Red Devil line is comparable to Sapphire Nitro+ and ASUS ROG.

You didn't really make clear which tier of Sapphire you were talking about. Sapphire and ASUS make second and third class lines too. Almost every hardware vendor does because the highest tier model is often expensive overkill for 99% of the people and workloads they have.

If you'd like more accurate suggestions, post the Sapphire model you're looking at and it will be easier to compare and answer the question. Personally, I think the PowerColor card Vrika posted looks nice.

Well, it would be nice if I didn't have to rebuild an entire computer. So, maybe some double fan options? They are generally shorter and such.

Ideal would be to just upgrade RAM, GFX and CPU. Not replace. That would require another MoBo, another case, annoying.
