With ABK being added to MS catalog, they are still in 4th place for number of exclusives and studios and IPs.

    1st place: 10 Cent
    2nd place: Nintendo
    3rd place: Sony
    4th: MS

"Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier also noted that Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is expected to depart the company on January 1, 2024, making way for new leadership after more than 30 years." Finally this POS is going away! That's a win-win.

After the sale the largest gaming businesses will be:

    1. Microsoft and Sony (25-30 billion USD per year)
    3. Tencent (20-25 billion USD per year)
    4. Nintendo (about 15 billion USD per year)

For Microsoft those numbers include both their gaming revenue and Activision Blizzard's total revenue. For Sony that's revenue from Playstation segment. For Tencent it's revenue from domestic games and revenue from international games, and for Nintendo I'm just using their total revenue since the company is mostly a gaming business.

Not what I said, you can add money to MS ledger by what they make on office and other products but what it comes down to just gaming IP's, Studios and exclusives. They are still in 4th place. You can do that same with any company that has their foot in many industries.

I'm not doing that. If I were doing it then Microsoft would have 198 billion USD revenue. For Microsoft, Sony and Tencent I'm taking the numbers that they report from their gaming business.

Whereas you're practically pulling those numbers out of your ass. What are you even doing?

Are you taking the number of financial entities the corporation has, then adding to that the number of games released exclusively on their platform? Tencent would be last since for them that exclusive number is close to 0.

Or are you just taking the number of financial entities the corporation has? I think Nintendo would be last.

I don't think you're even actually doing anything to get those numbers. To me it just looks like you're inventing convenient numbers that fit your agenda.

Im taking it from watching and reading all the legal battles from all the regulators around the world and the news agencies reporting on the facts. Depending how they list it, MS is in 3rd or 4th place every time after ABK is added. It all depends on how they measured it. Just IPs and Exclusives or if Studios and staff is added to the figure. That's the big reason MS won the battle. ABK never put MS in the lead. If they were already on equal footing. They would have been shoot down by all regulators. It's the same reason Sony has not been stopped from buying more studios. They are seen as in 2nd or 3rd place in the gaming market currently depending on how each regulator adds things up. 10Cent had gone under the radar because most of their IPs they own are currently not making money. EDIT: One of these facts that was agreed upon in the legal battles. Before ABK. Sony has 5 times more exclusives then MS. That's all part of this equation. And after buying ABK, MS has not earned one exclusive from that deal... Yet.

Little thing I forgot to respond too. Some regulators dont count staff and studios in the equation. For them was the focus was exclusives and IPs owned. Thats the big reason why 10Cent and Nintendo are at the top. Even though Nintendo, if someone wanted to buy them. The price tag seems to be about 55 billion.

I will check the piggy bank to see if a buyout is on the cards. ;)

It is interesting that the amount of money the company is worth and what they are earning is often not the big picture to what these regulators look at as the prime factor, its more about is the possible income could be made or used to manipulate the market. Thinking of Sony or Xbox owning Nintendo scares me. Even though they are worth so much less when it comss to a buy out price tag. Happy you have a piggy bank though. I'm still waiting for my allowance from my wife :)

Wonder what the final number was?

We all know that that was what the hold up was about. What are we getting out of this deal?

    What final number?

The hold up was because UK authorities rejected the deal initially. Now it's approved because Microsoft altered the deal by selling cloud gaming rights to Ubisoft.

I will say that regardless of his exit package, getting Kotick out of the picture is a positive thing for the potential for Blizzard titles moving forward. It remains to be seen if MS will do anything better with them, of course, but at least there's a chance now.

Less interested in who's got the biggest bucks.
More interested in what's going to happen now the buyout/merger is happening.
There's bound to be some rationalization effects hitting customers.

And what can we expect in terms of future multiplayer games from this behemoth.
