After 6 years of mostly silence, Star Citizen's campaign shows up again, and boy did it show up flexing, with an outright impressive and GIGANTIC upgrade from when we saw the game last, announcing the game as feature complete and in the polish phase towards a release, a specific date hasn't been announced yet.
Video is absolutely worth a watch, because well, it was often said most of the things developed these days are done in the campaign, then moved to Star Citizen, if this video shown something is how the campaign makes SC look, feel and play dated, until all of this work is implemented on the MMO.
I was never hyped for the campaign, but seeing the quality and general gameplay approach they're achieving with it, it's looking good, and hopes are that they can pull off a decently polished release with it.

What is Campaign's relationship with the recently announced Pyro (or whatever it's called ) environment?

BTW, I hope it's great. I just don't trust snake oil salesman who are still asking for your money.
SQ42 takes place primarly on the Odin system, Pyro is the 2nd star system to be added to star citizen itself.
Pyro was announced it will start allowing testing on a test preview channel at the end of this month. The full release is to release with the ability to transition star systems, and with it, servers, aka the looooong talked server mesh that is to be the MMO infastructure of the game.
If we look at Starfield that was at least 1 year, if not 2 years on polish phase, to get it released, on a somewhat lesser wonkier state than other BGS titles.
As much we can read this announcement as hype towards release, gotta also ground expectations that it's not going to be a short trip.

I liked what I saw.
I really loved some parts.. others were just OK... but it at least feels somewhat REAL.
Music: A+
Cinematography: A-
Ground Combat and vehicles: B+ (But I really would prefer more focus on space overall)
Space Combat: C (it looked.. kind of arcade like)
Space visuals: A
Gary Oldman Speeches: A+
The Hype that it's in in "polishing" but no date estimate: C-

The rational part of me goes back to Frodo's post above and the prior times we were told it's close.
But given it's been YEARS since we saw stuff like this... Im letting the fanboy out a bit.

The positive bit to me is more that, feature complete should start free developers to focus on SC more, as we can visibly see how much SQ42 is ahead of SC in literally every category, be it on graphics, audio, AI, UI, movement, etc.. much to still to implement on SC.
I gotta day as we had discussions on this for years here, I generally never cared for SQ42 but this showoff with gameplay approaches with physics puzzles, open sandbox ended on how you approach any given situation, it pretty much got hype for the campaign going.
Stuff I wouldn't imagine I'd ever say 72 hours ago lol
It's not like we have a choice anyway
By the way, what is the latest on the Squadron 42 Mission Disk? Last I saw they were saying that it would be it's own stand alone game, the equivalent of Wing Commander 2

Does that mean another 15 years? Is it in development? Did this plan change again?

SQ42 the one that's shown here and is to release is still Part 1 of the trilogy.
We know SQ42 evolved from mission disks, which would be the dlc too it, into sequels. So the 2nd game, which early backers should get for free per stretch goal, I think Behind Enemy Lines, is supposed to be the next installement of SQ42.
The initial SQ42 is where they been creating all the engine tech, tools, assets/etc, the sequels are realistically and easier and faster to pull off by instead focusing on building with/upon what they already created. We just don't know how will they prioritize it attm, will they focus the sequel right away, or focus on SC, that's more the question.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
