Not really, because WoW has become the king of killing itself and will continue to be the king of killing itself lol.
IMO, Activision has been gutting Blizzard since they bought it. I hope under Xbox we get back the developer we knew. One can hope.
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
AoC will be mediocre at best.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Quite literally the opposite of what they have been pushing the whole time. Their actions and words don't convey otherwise. What is it with people not believing devs when there is no cause (from them) to not believe what they say and what they are doing? AoC being a "niche game" is it's default position by being an MMORPG, to begin with. "AoC will be mediocre at best." to what standard or specific niche, within the niche genre are you comparing it to?
Oh wait, nevermind...they definitely have before which is probably why many don't believe them today.

WoW has been the top MMORPG or very close to for a long, long time. It doesn't matter what people think. WoW has earned it's place as a benchmark.
Briefly but WoW then reasserted. Still, that it happened at all is remarkable. I don't know which of the two is currently on top.
Note: No smilie, not a joke, just hoping.
Agreed, this isn't news. Any smart developer would say they're not trying to kill WoW.
WoW is the only game that can kill WoW, and even it is having a bloody hard time doing so. No matter what mishandling or controversy surrounds it the game weathers the storm and still remains at the top or close to.
Though when you think about it, that bar is probably lower than it's ever been, so maybe.
