Pantheon - Return to MMO Testing

So they did a 180 on the excursion mode idiocy and are back to focusing on the MMO.

I hope whoever had the brilliant idea to put that excursion mode in got fired and they scrap it entirely. This move made a lot of the people in the youtube comments and on the forums happy. Personally I find it hard to trust anything they do going forward after the monumental derp with the extraction mode.

I would say this is good news.

Sorry extraction mode. The servers will be going down for extraction mode on Friday and Saturday MMO servers will be up. Going back to the MMO ruleset, etc.

In last nights dev Q&A, Joppa was quite clear that testers simply weren't interested and very few were playing the extraction mode. I'm glad they're paying attention to data and feedback and no longer wasting time on something no one wants. It's great they can rapidly return to the full MMO.

On top of that it looks like Warrior is being added as soon as tomorrow. Playable Ogres and Gnomes will be added soon as well. They are going back to the original style Ogre models too so they'll actually look like Ogres again. A new zone should be added by next month as well. Alpha pledgers will be let in for 24 hour test sessions, while VIPs will continue to have 24/7 access.

There is a lot good info for those still interested in Pantheon. They certainly sound WAY more upbeat than the last several Q&As for sure. It's the most positive vibes I've gotten from this team the entire year tbh.

    The take away.

    1. Knew the community would not accept this and kept pushing even after the leak and the backlash. Took many weeks, 4 weeks I think. To back peddle that is.

    2. They have been working on this 6 months or so. So this was allot of investment in man hours, production time and pledge money.

These two things in mind. The investment + the time it took to backpeddle. How badly did they "need" this to work. If allot, whats left in the tank after the 6 months?

They are about to turn on the game (all of the playable world on Pantheon) for 24/7 to a large number of high end pledge backers. How much is left in the tank after that? If not... Do they have anther idea to generate money we don't know about? Or is this saying "well let them enjoy it while we have lights on!" I really wonder.

Yes this is a good point.  I feel bad for Beta testers, because I only heard Alpha testers are going to be able to play soon.  All the rest are left in the cold.

I have zero trust in the devs. They went from we need the extraction mode or we cant fund the development to - we hear you, we will cancel the extraction mode. Further more every thing they have done so far was a waste- I have zero confidence that they will release anything close the the original concept. In my eyes they are incompetent to say at least.

See, this really fries me and pisses me off about Ashes too for a very similar situation.

For what purpose are they excluding the people who paid for Beta tiers? These clowns are so far behind schedule that sticking to the "tiers you bought" thingy is amateurish and ridiculous. Just let the people who paid, test and play the game.

Ashes is the same way. They are years late for what their alpha and beta testers were promised regarding access. They should at least have to provide that, even if they keep holding back the version numbers.

Are they so out of touch to think that only these "alpha" testers are ready for this mess? Because that's insulting. Or is it more likely that they're worried word will get out just how crap the state of the game is and they can no longer hide behind the curtain with smoke and mirrors. I think it's that for all of them.

What I would love to see is a class action lawsuit, against at least one, if not several, projects that result in players having to be provided access to any "crowd funding" or early access supporter and that NDAs cannot be required. That would light the same kind of fire under their asses, holding them more visibly accountable, that they have to face with corporately funded publisher projects.

They are holding out on letting beta players in because they know FOMO will encourage a significant number to upgrade their pledges to get in earlier.

    Working as planned.
