The video does not look that great. Every area they show is empty, devoid of NPC's, traffic and other things that would make it look like a living game. I will reserve judgement for now =-)
It was the power walk in front of the apartment buildings at 1:27 that really sold me. /sarcasm
I don't see how this or Ship of Heroes is supposed to get me to play them when I can play City of Heroes: Homecoming for free and it looks like the vastly superior game.
The super hero landing was awesome tho and this looks way better than Ship of Heroes.

Looks a hell of a lot better and more fluid than anything Ship of Heroes has done.
Maybe but when is it going into EA, it is not on Steam? Regardless, we need good MMOs, I hope they are both a success.
Huh? EA? Steam? City of Titans is self-published. Go to the website at https://CityOfTitans.com/ and go to the store link.
A lot of people these days won't acknowledge a game unless it's published on a big store front.
It has over 9000 subscribers already - pre-release. And we are connected to Epic Games and can publish through them as well - so that's convered if we need it for a "big store front". I'm one of the company co-founders. The "big store front" like Steam and EA is a good way to get lost in a crowd of products.

How do you get 9000 subscribers if there are only 6,580 Titans?
Epic? Seriously, if the team thinks that's their ace in the hole, then that about says all anyone needs to know. I mean, if they haven't already seen through the delusion of self-publishing that is. "...if we need it for a big store front" Dude, this projects needs every damn thing it can get. It does not look like it's in any position to be choosy about where it sells the game. Sell it on Steam and Xbox for PC too, along with Epic and anyone else that will let you in.
If this weren't the 2020s I would be shocked at the insanity I hear coming out of these projects.

Had to look up gameplay from Ship of Heroes because I needed to know how bad it is if THIS is better than basically anything. Well let's say I wasn't disappointed.

I don't need a game to be on Steam to play it, but regardless if it is on Steam or not I will only join in if it is released. Good luck to you and I hope it launches well.
Honestly it looks really weak, its a background and shows characters flying (in a static pose), walking (who cares) but the running and jump at 1.15 in the video looks awful, they have had TEN YEARS of development and this is what they have?
I mean I wish them well but I cant see much of a future on this.

Is it actually a game, or just a character creator and an environment to move around in? The least I checked it was the latter. I don't recall getting any emails saying I can now play the game I helped crowdfund either.

As it happens this is the game I crowdfunded long ago when I thought CoH lost forever. I haven't looked at the progress of it for a good long time but am currently downloading it to see the state of things.
Ship of Heroes was a better experience despite being aesthetically weaker.
Thankfully CoH has returned so this isn't that great a bother, and I have Champions Online which is better than any of the spiritual successors to date as well.

Sorry to hear that. I could never do Ship, though. It's too big of an ask.
Not sure why more people don't play Champions. It seems like a pretty good game from an outside view.

Many CoH players have negative views about the game and they may make up a significant percentage of the potential audience for it.
Some of these negative views are accurate and thus reasonable but some have no foundation other than bias, whether personal or from the tendency to bandwagon that intense game loyalty can lead to.
I expect it is also partly due to their dropping of time-based subscriptions, restricting freeform characters to life-time subscribers or those willing to purchase a freeform character slot.
In case you don't know CO freeform characters, aside from a few restrictions, can cherry pick their desired powers from every power set in the game. This allows for a great deal of character customization.
Those without freeform are restricted to whatever archetypes they have available, and these are preset collections of powers that only allow a couple of choices between two powers for customization, so are quite limited in comparison.
Aside from that, there are some powers in CoH that CO has no match for and vice versa. Some power types, especially crowd control, are amazingly effective in CoH but all but useless expect for solo players in CO. That can play a factor in game preference.
There are also systems unique to each game that could also impact on one's game of choice. For example, CO allows you to create a personal arch-nemesis that will sometime be a bother. CoH allows players to create and save their own missions and then share them for others to play. This is especially useful for role-play super groups.
CoH is more serious thematically and has better written stories, whereas CO is more campy at times venturing into Adam West Batman territory. On the flip side CO has more varied environments, but CoH provides for both hero and villain play with a system for shifting the character's morality if the player so desires, affecting NPC reactions to and willingness to communicate with the character and assign missions.
Anyway, I could go on further as I haven't covered everything, but your eyes may well be truly glazed over at this point if you made it this far so I will restrain myself from going further. Feel free to ask whatever you wish about either game if you so desire and I will answer as well as I am able.

The rate of this development is at snails pace while SOH is quickly developing and as a solo developer.

It's like they handed it off to a bunch of students with zero experience.
Honestly, I coulnd't get hyped about it if my life depended on it.
If it is made by students tho, kudos to them.
