Embers Adrift Adds New High-Level Content, New Zone, New Factions, Loot, and More | MMORPG.com
The Embers Adrift team reflects on new high-level content, and more to come as the team prepares to close 2023 in the newest State of the Game devblog.
The development team has been very active, much has been added to the game in the last year. Frankly I'm impressed with what this small team is achieving - seems like strong team with a real Vision for the game.
Sure - it's slow pace, it's not easy mode, you have to think and figure things out - making mistakes along the way is part of the fun. No quest signs, no glowing lines to next target, no mini-map showing enemies. Have to work it.
I've been having a blast, community is friendly, and dungeon crawls with a good group are huge fun with exciting loot. For me, it's the best fun since EQ. Even BETTER fun 'cause it's new, up-to-date, and with thoughtful new design features.

No offense, but you come across as a ChatGPT post, or one of the Embers advertising team.
If you are for real, my apologies, keep coming back.

Welcome to the forums!
You may be Embers advertising, but I recon you are not chatAI, actual people always get a welcome.
No offense, but you come across as a ChatGPT post, or one of the Embers advertising team.
If you are for real, my apologies, keep coming back.
Now being positive on the internet makes you sound like an AI or ad. Good times.
Anyway, I am also enjoying Embers Adrift right now. Beep bop. And that's me who spent 500h mostly solo on New World just this year, a completely different kind of MMORPG.
I started playing EA like 5 days ago because I read there's no longer the requirement for a subscription, something that kept me from checking it out when it released. The subscription is also not really mandatory but a requirement if you want to actively play more than one character.
My time spent in Embers Adrift has been such a positive experience. Everyone I came across has been friendly and helpful. The world chat has never been toxic. Group play is fun, so is exploring the world. Visuals (mostly animations) and performance could be better though. Combat is really slow but I heard it's getting faster at higher levels when you have better stats (haste?) and more skills to use.
That being said, it's a niche game for a certain audience and definitely not for everyone.
Whoa, I am a human being, but I think of myself as a writer, (and people say I am rather wordy). Also, I really like Embers Adrift so I have used some of these phrases before.
It's certainly a niche game, but it's absolutely MY niche
It is just not well known yet, but growing slowly by word-of-mouth - as it scratches that old style MMO itch. Sometimes called 'EQ3' (even though it is quite different.)
I am definitely getting this game soon, looks right up my ally, all though I have become more of a soloer in my old age, would buy it now but to involved in a couple single player games I want to play to completion at the mement, plus I prefer to wait a few months after an MMo is released to jump in
Can certainly solo in Embers, I did 3 characters solo to about 20 so I could do all the 9 craft professions (though it's rather slow.) Plenty of oldies here too.
Recently been getting into groups and dungeons and having super fun, especially with an organised group that knows their inter-locking roles.
Of course, have also had the odd total group wipe - but that risk/challenge is important for the fun, can't have it too easy.
You may know that old EQ had corpse runs after you died. Embers has a milder form of that - which actually captures some of the old EQ risk/reward fun.
The advertising budget is still zero though, so it's just word-of-mouth. I'm spreading my words because I am really enjoying this unusual but very well designed game.
I tried this game on one of the free weekends and I liked the grafix style, the combat was fine too, but every vender is cut and paste, when I got to first big town it was completely dead and ruined it for me. The 2nd thing was the lack of questing past the first zone.

Well -
The game is more developed and town is busy now.
There are various different vendors for different crafts etc.
There are more quests - many quests past the first zone.

If KapyongQ's account was created to advertise Embers Adrift, then that's impressive foresight. The account was created in 2011.
Ah yes, like the sinking of the Titanic sent ripples back in time to the infamous 'Wreck of the Titan' (AKA 'Futility'), the creation of Embers Adrift sub-consciously impinged on my thoughts all those years ago ...
This post is getting high Embers adrift high representation. What around 10%+ of the active players are here on this very forum posting?
If the game is so great, why doesnt anyone play it?
It started last year as B2P with a requried SUB, lost everyone except for about 25. concurrent players. Then went to B2P with an Optional Sub, short surge of a few hundred players, then collapse to 25. Now they are doing Month Long F2P, short surge, not sure what its at now, probably 25 players.
Last few steps will be permanent F2P, or Paying players to play or ???

Well, maybe it is great but for a small audience? I mean, "great" is subjective. People think World of Warcraft is great. I think it's well made and dull.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

True maybe in this case an extremely small audience. However its interesting that of the 25 people playing this game, most feel the need to be here telling us how great it is. Yet all the other games out there with millions of fans dont seems to want to be here pumping it every week.
Maybe Embers just has the most loyal 25 fans ever.

Also, the awful performance. Made our entire group who was trying it out quit afaik.

Same, and obviously there is no badge for 20 years yet. What a shame!
