Wife and I bought into the Alpha 2 package. We are OG backers. So it only cost $50 to upgrade. Looking forward to seeing what's done so far.
Big deciding factor has been the design I'm looking for in a MMO. Old school roots with modern systems. It's not just the trinity but what I love is they are shooting for EQ roots. Tank, DPS, Healers and SUPPORT. Classes like The Bard have this in the wiki description.

I'm looking forward to seeing if they can deliver this. Ashes last few team based videos show a mythoacal team based combat that is tactical in nature. Where taking a min to plan how to take on a group of mobs over just plowing forward with AoE skills by all players and self heals that just carry you through.
This type of game play is more then what I miss but leave me in a place I'm worn out by action combat MMOs. Like many here I'm done with this carbon copy of MOBA style MMOs.
