After an agreement, Myth of Empires is headed for a relaunch in February. The open-world survival sandbox sandbox war game will relaunch on Steam, followed by a console release.

    I disagree but like any genre it depends if it is done well or not.

    You see lack of content I see lack of a rail driven story where players decision don't make much of a difference.

    This could be an interesting take on the genre. I'll take a look. Anything sandbox/world(base?) building is right up my alley. :)

    Everyone is forgetting, this will be filled by non-region locked Chinese players who make it their primary source of income from their employers to play against westerners and screw them over by playing for 12 hours a day in rotating shifts on the same account. The Chinese will own the servers and dominate because no one can compete with no-lifers. Maybe private servers will fix this but the official servers will be dead on arrival.

    You can make a game open world and sandbox without putting in survival. Survival is a byword for grind, make sure you eat and drink! Now I don 't know how they will do the survival elements here but likely they will really be grind elements.

    Private servers do not fix the no life Chinese players. Go have a look at the private WoW servers that are inundated by Chinese players. Any one of the private servers that get big have this issue. Only consolation is the private servers have administration willing to remove the accounts for good but a couple of the servers have just ended up being dominated by them. Worst thing is with the 24 hour clock tag team they manage to be on all the time. Don't forget the Russian players who have taken over other servers.

     MMORPGs have less and less things for me personally to consider playing them and using my precious time on them for a longer length of time any more.

    Games with territory control you can forget playing them.
