Permadeath? I really can't see todays cosseted youth jumping on that bandwagon. I would have played it myself back in the day, but these days no.

I played this for about 8 hours testing every aspect of it. You can safely skip this one. The game is shallow as all hell. All there is to do is kill mobs/bosses to gain levels and gear, hit the level cap of 30, (takes only 4-5 hours) then the game is over, you have to die and start all over again from scratch, no permanent progressions, no npc vendors/shops/trainers/etc. Just a bank with 10 slots.

It's free so you can jump on and finish the game in a single afternoon. Just don't expect anything fun or long term. It's a mindless grinder with NES era graphics.

PS: Forgot to mention it sells classes, bank slots, and cosmetics for real money. Only one class is free, and bank slots are EXTREMELY limited. Also ALL cosmetics are lost on death, even the ones bought with cash, so don't buy cosmetics.

To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.

Thank you very much for the review, @Kazuhiro. You would expect the author of the article to provide such details; instead the article told me almost nothing but the game's title. He may have simply copy/pasted the game's description from the Steam Store and called it a day.

As a diehard fan of permadeath, bullethell, MMO, and pixel games, I was very curious as soon as I watched the imbedded YouTube video. I miss the hell out of Realm of the Mad God & I was sad to see 'Survived By' get shutdown.

Too bad it's another money grab. Thanks again Kazuhiro & shame on MMORPG.COM & Steven Weber for the pointless fluff piece

    Greetings "Disappointed" MMORPGer

While we certainly take all criticism under advisement, our coverage of Born Again was simply to report on the news that the game has released on Steam, and provide a short synopsis of what the game encompasses. It was never meant to be an in-depth player opinion like our excellent forum contributor Kazuhiro provided.

As much as I would love to play a handful of hours prior to a report that a game has released, it just isn't feasible for a short news report. However, if our community would like to see more in-depth reviews of smaller Indie games, feel free to let us know!

We're sorry the release news of Born Again didn't meet your expectations, but we're glad to see you post your opinion.

    Happy posting!

Surprisingly it has a "mostly positive" rating on Steam. There seems to be lots of jank and the rewards are stingy af, slow, and monotonous being the top complaints. I'll pass. This isn't for me.
Bring back the Naked Chicken Chalupa!

We can't expect the staff to spend half a day playing every game they do an item about, this was not a review. But thanks Kazuhiro, it is posters like yourself who fill in the gaps.
