in most sanboxPvP mmo games like mortal online, life is feudal, darkfall it focus often leans heavily on joining large clans or guilds to participate in significant pvp experiences like wars or sieges. However, these large groups sometimes end up feeling impersonal, where individual players might feel like just another number among the crowd. They're often treated more as a statistic than a person.
On the other hand, games like Rust offer a refreshing alternative where you and your close friends can engage in full-on PvP experiences without the need to be part of a massive clan like 4-6 people. This setup allows for a more intimate and enjoyable experience. It's about the camaraderie and coordination within a smaller, tight-knit group, which can lead to more meaningful and engaging gameplay.
Essentially, it's a shift from being a small part of a large machine to having a more personal and impactful role within a smaller group, creating a more fulfilling PvP experience.
i was waiting for games like anvil empire but not sure if it fall under which category

In my opinion, the best PvP is in groups of 10-20.
In UO, guilds used to set up battles, and in the earlier days it was hard to get larger numbers in game at the same time, than say 20 or so.
Even PK guilds didn't get more than that when they ran through Dungeons killing everyone in sight. So Anti-PK guilds had a chance to get to PKer runs (Dungeons or around cities or ruins) and do battle with them.
These huge battles, PvP or PvE, just aren't much fun for me. Like you pointed out, coordination in a tight-knit, where you know your friends and what they'll do, that's so much more enjoyable than just mashing buttons.
Keeping guild sizes smaller, say maybe 50 max, would be a boon to MMORPG game play, in my opinion.

Some people join the Army Rangers or Navy Seals to be part of a highly focused well trained but small team who goes out to get the job done.
Others are part of the Normandy Invasion, with hundreds of thousands hitting the beaches amidst a maelstrom of total carnage and violence.
Both serve there purpose in the overall scheme of warfare.
Speaking of which, what army would you rather be part of when push comes to shove, Belgium or Peoples Republic of China?
Unfortunately in MMORPG gaming size often matters, which is one reason many don't care for it, too much like real life.

Seriously, very large guilds are going to be more impersonal its impossible for the officers to truly counteract that. If you want to partake in a large scale PvP MMO you just have to put up with that. These days though, how many of those MMO's are kicking around? I have always been for us having every sort of MMO out there to play, these ones are a dying breed.
It's looking like my gaming days are probably over, though. Age, lack of money, and the inability to do anything about that because of my age and arthritis (otherwise I'm in pretty good shape), it's taking its toll.
But even though I haven't had a game like I want for years, I have enjoyed my time on this forum. I don't know if I'll be around anymore, but I'm not feeling it if you know what I mean.
