People hating him will be begging for him to come back in 3 years, mark my words.
Huh? He pushed out ALL of the real talent by going cheap, forced games to release half baked and allowed incredibly toxic environments under his watch.

Much like a man who had a gallon of ghost pepper chili for supper, they couldn't pass this huge turd fast enough. Good riddance to the greedy twat and I hope that fraud Ion Halitosis will soon follow.
People are so naïve. Wouldn't be surprised if he already has a job waiting in the wings.
Shareholders look at profits. This guy made profits.
I mean he has enough money that he does not need to work. But if he wants to, I bet quite a bit, that companies would hire him to make them more profitable.
Gamers do not really care about how bad the companies they buy games from treat their employee's. Neither do the shareholders that are out to make the most they can.
Am I the only one who hopes he golden parachute is riddled with holes and he falls to his grisly death? Fuck this guy and if I never hear his name again it will be too soon. He single handedly destroyed the quality and reputation 2 companies had for quality games in the name of MOAR profit. Profit is good, profit above all else at any cost, is the bane of the world.
I figured it would be more. His net worth is reporting at being $600 million. $15 million is nothing to him. Oh well, sounds like Microsoft got off easy ejecting this guy, and no I don't think Microsoft will be wanting him back in 3 years. They have plenty of EIEIOs to go around.
You questioned whether those quotes were jokes, I would say none were, they are came from how he thinks a company should be run. But where I disagree is that humour does not have to have a basis in reality; because you make a joke it does not mean you have to somehow half believe in what you are saying. I have seen this used before to attack people including professional comedians so I dismiss that idea.
But he is not the only top executive to have shown the exactly same mentality as in the "jokes", there is always going to be a friction between running a business well and treating your employees and consumers well. We saw exactly the same thing when the former CEO of EA joined and he talked about turning every game designer into an accountant (to watch the budgets) and making every game simple enough for your mum to play. It can be crap for the employee and the consumer but it sells and investors love to hear it.

"toxic environments" where people are … how horrifying! … asked to do work.
See you in 3 years when blizzard games no longer get any updates because nobody wants to be "toxic" and tell people to do their job.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Bobby was a problem. Shareholders ARE a problem. Games as a service IS. A. PROBLEM.
The only way this story had a truly happy ending is if we get a follow up one a month later reporting that Bobby was found dead in an Alleyway.
Stop defending the man whose entire life's work was making sure the game's you played stayed mediocre because that made the most money. You deserve games like Warcraft 3, not Call of Duty 3 2023...
I can tell you that most of the Blizzard staff are going to throw a party next week. Kotick was always hated there far more than he was, even on mmorpg.com, and for good reason.
He spent over a decade actively making the games Blizzard employees were working on worse in the name of enriching himself, and a small cabal of board members, and we hate him for that, but don't forget he also spent that time actively making the lives of Blizzard employees worse directly for the same reason.
People hating him will be begging for him to come back in 3 years, mark my words.

As a guy who actually worked for Microsoft at the start of his career, I can promise you no one is going to be sitting around idle playing videogames while they're supposed to be working. They have no problem cutting dead weight, and they're rather immediate about it. At least when I was there two security guards showed up with a box, you packed your stuff, your badge which gave you access to the building was confiscated, and you were walking out. No two weeks notice. The security guards were your notice. This was the same procedure if you gave notice or you were being terminated for cause. If you were on break when someone got walked out you would come back and be like "where's Bob?" looking at an empty cubicle. They were quite efficient. Anyway once you witness one or two of those go down you get the idea that Microsoft expects results and doesn't tolerate you wasting time goofing off. They monitor your Internet traffic as everything is routed through their corporate proxy server. Low wall cubes so the manager can at a glance look around the room and see who is or isn't working. They're all very polite about all this. Nothing that could be called toxic, but they are quite firm in their expectations that you are there to get work done. Oh and they have an entire army of lawyers if you think you're going to threaten a lawsuit. They'll simply give you the contact info for Microsoft legal on your way to your car with your security escort in tow.
I don't care about the corporate bullshit and golden parachutes. It's gross, happens all the time, and lives in another world far out of my reach.
I liked Blizzard games before he got involved. Vivendi, in my opinion, is a huge shitbag company that did a number on Blizzard (and everything else they touched and poisoned) which left them open to acquisition by Activision. Blizzard made good games, but when Vivendi got involved everything changed. Vivendi is like the Fire Nation, if it were a steaming turd burning in a dumpster fire. Hopefully Blizzard can flourish better under Microsoft and get back to their roots.

No more like environments where sexism was rampant and a woman took her own life after nude photos were circulated to coworkers.

Dude, gamers are the issue on about everything you are railing against.
Even the old time devs, that started as gamers in their garages, who sold out to corporate bigshots, that started all the big companies sold out in the end.
Like I said, gamers do not care, they just want those games put out as quickly as possible. Just the way of the world, show me the money. That's the bottom line.

Show me the money, the rest? Just ignore it.
the game will deteriorate so much now.
