Pax Dei will enter Early Access this spring, Mainframe Industries announced today. Their cloud-based sandbox also got an Early Access trailer at this morning's Nvidia presentation, as the game will launch with DLSS 3 support.

    That is, of course, not how Early Access games typically work. You buy in early and are given access to the work-in-progress builds, but then of course also receive the game at launch.

    It's not uncommon, that you pay for EA titles. I don't think it's any different. After Release you will need an additional subscription to play.

    I am pretty sure they have not decided on the monetization model (subscription or otherwise) for the game either, unless their website is no longer accurate.

    It's not uncommon, that you pay for EA titles. I don't think it's any different. After Release you will need an additional subscription to play.



    Yes. It looks like they are simply saying they will not charge the sub during Early Access. After launch it seems they are proposing:

    Buy Game
    Mandatory monthly sub
    Mandatory time based charge to own property
    Cash shop for services
    RMT via a Plex Like currency

    I have no issue with 1 and 2. Nor #4 as long as it's stuff like name changes or server moves.
    Very skeptical about #3 and #5
    We shall see

    PS: I think it's vital that they announce the actual monetization including pricing for all the above prior to selling Early Access.

    Indeed its worded kind of dubiously.

    I am fairly certain monetization will kill this game or keep it smaller than it should be.

    Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

    This is just part of the obfuscation that early access has allowed to be brought into gaming.

    Q. When is a launch a final launch to release? A. When we have taken as much as we think we can from this stage of development.
