I'm going to play it on GamePass for a while. If I like it and it holds up over time, then I'll probably buy it. I'll buy it on Xbox regardless because even though it isn't tagged "Xbox Play Anywhere", the purchase on either system includes the other system as playable.
I have a feeling this will be a fast burn for a lot of folks. Great initial first hour reviews, but unless they can keep to a decently paced content delivery schedule player count will take a massive nose dive in a few weeks.
At least we can try it for free on GamePass, as this studio will not get a dime from me.
They seem to have bad track record with previous titles ending up Abandonware and this is supposedly a reskin of one of them.
I am honestly also surprised TPC is not looking into this, as some of these animals are pretty much straight Pokemon rip-offs, with just a tiny detail or color change added to make them look different, but really not enough as it's just too obvious and similar.
These devs also looking into NFT's and Crypto is a bit of a red flag to me as well.
But like I said, if you have GamePass, it's free to try at least.

Played it for like 20 minutes on xbox X and the game froze. Also seemed to run poorly. It was stuttering a bit, but sure if it was lag or poor frame rates. I doubt i will play anymore, it just was not my thing.

Yeah tried it on my XBOX Series X and it runs like crap. Also aim sensitivity doesn't seem to do much either, so turn radius is absolutely abysmal.
While I can see the addictive gameplay loop in this, it's just too poorly optimized to enjoy at the moment. At least for me.
It's pretty entertaining for what it is, but it feels like a EA game that's for sure- so i'm trying not to spend too much time with it as i'd rather get the full 1.0 experience.

I also played this for a while last night and it is pretty good so far and plan on continue playing. This will be a nice change from ARK Ascended which can get pretty hardcore at times, even on medium settings. Valheim will remain my chill out relaxing world to play in.
It runs really well on my Xbox Series X and my PC. Capturing Pals can be challenging, at least in the early game. There isn't much hand holding, but there is a decent starter guide built into the game, which is very cool.
I'm playing on normal with the standard food, water, and temp meters, but they're much easier to manage than some of the more hardcore games. The settings can be adjusted to make it more or less brutal.
I can see setting up a dedicated server with a few friends once it matures a bit. It's fun in single player, but like most survival crafting builders, it will be more so with friends.
Honestly, even if they had intented to drop support like with their first game, that would be the wrong business decision now. The game is bigger than they could have anticipated.

The problem I see is that a lot of the monsters in this game are blatant rip-offs straight from the Pokemon games. They are not even subtle about it.
So it remains to be seen what The Pokemon Company thinks of this and if it's going to drop the legal hammer on them. Especially now the game has gone viral and blown up like it has.
I just don't understand these devs either for doing this, they have some unique monsters in this game, so why copy like half the monsters straight from an existing franchise? It's just asking for trouble. It's fine to take inspiration from other franchises, but stealing assets is never a valid strategy that ends well.
Just look at other succesful games like Digimon and TemTem. It all borrows heavily on Pokemon game concept (and that is fine), but they at least try to differentiate and give their own unique twists to it, including truly unique monster designs. I mean, TemTem borrows quite heavily on similar gameplay, like Gyms and the like. Digimon truly is a franchise that stands on it's own legs, almost as old as Pokemon itself and even have their own popular TCG game, that has run a good 20+ years.

Yeah many Xbox X players are reporting issues with the game. Glitches and crazy fps dips.
I read that the Xbox version is 1.0 and they are already in 1.2 in PC. Also read that with VRR people get better frames.
It runs really well on my Xbox Series X and my PC.
Did you mean Xbox series S?
Both series have fps dips but series S has dips in the 40s realm while X goes below 30 which is painful and even more when sometimes they come with audio dips.

I have GamePass Ultimate, so I can play it on PC now and it runs much better and it has cross-save so that is nice at least.

It seems to run fine for me on Series X, but I do see frame dips in random situations. That hasn't happened a lot for me though.
Xbox PC runs much more consistently, but I think the console looks better. My PC graphics card is a 1660ti and is starting to show its age. It's consistent in games at some mid to high range settings, but the Xbox looks better a lot of the time.
I wasn't paying attention enough to notice audio issues, but I'll pay attention more closely in the next session.
Time will tell if The Pokemon Company comes after them. In best case scenario they will have to remove any Pals that too closely resemble existing Pokemon (which are quite a few to be honest) and replace them with more unique designs.
I think the legal troubles are exaggerated. People said the same thing about TemTem. If anyone other than me cared about Nexomon, they'd have said the same thing about them too. Both are on the Switch.

In TemTem's defense. It is a unique enough game and all their animals(pokemon) are unique designs.
I am enjoying Palworld, but it cannot be denied that they literally ripped off elements from other games, like UI elements and functions from Zelda BotW, Pokemon Legends and hell even TemTem lol. And then many of the Pals are just straight up copies of existing Pokemon, with very minor changes or just a simple recoloring.
It's a bit of a shame they were cheap (either in a rush or downright lazy) that they didn't try to hide it more with more effort and differentiating more.
I wonder if these devs will EVER finish Craftopia?
Craftopia saw a decent content update in late December, a post revisiting their roadmap, and 2 bug fix patches since that update. So, they are still working on it. Based on their roadmap and the stuff in the December content update, my poorly informed guess would be at least a year.
