It's not even the end of January and we already know of multiple MMOs that are getting the expansion treatment this calendar year. Which one has caught your eye the most?

On the other hand, Dawntrail looks amazing. I quit FFXIV toward the end of Stormblood and skipped the next two expansions, but I have eagerly resubbed to catch up on the story so I can be ready for the new stuff. I was worried that it would be a slog, but I've actually been having a good time. I've wrapped up Stormblood and unlocked the new jobs, and without the specter of grinding dailies to drag me down, just playing the game is a lot of fun. Moving forward, I just need to remember not to participate in content I don't enjoy.
Obviously, I could not care less about free-to-play garbage, not even the IPs I used to enjoy before they went to the dark side. Good luck to them, but not really. That whole business model needs to die.
mmorpg junkie since 1999
As a casual player I'm cautiously hopeful for what the Delves bring. I thought Torghast was a HUGE miss for Blizzard in that they could have easily used that to elevate the solo player to a first class citizen in the world with a clear way to advance playing challenging content without a group, but no they just turned it into a requisite grind to earn crafting mats for your end game gear. I'm hoping maybe just maybe Delves will be this, but I also know the Blizzard team is very much a "raid or die" team that caters to players who can invest large blocks of contiguous time in their game and everyone else can pound sand. Even the M+ stuff can take a couple of hours to get through one if your not being PL'ed through one by a couple of folks in full raid gear. I just can't commit to that kind of time.
Anyway, I can't fault their business model or design decisions because they've certainly been more successful than any other MMO in history, so who am I to complain? Just kinda sucks they look at folks like me and say, nah... you can go somewhere else for your entertainment.
To be clear I have no expectation that they would hand out top tier level raid gear for doing solo or 4-man delves. However, if you could get to say top tier minus 2 level gear with that path, so that should one decide to start participating in group content you're not so far behind everyone that every guild looks at you and says "nah... we're not spending the time to go gear you up" that would be nice.
That all being said I have been getting my entertainment elsewhere for quite some time now, and have no problem continuing to do so. Plenty of single player and small co-op style games out there.
I wish I could get into FF 14 though. It is so popular and everyone loves the story telling.... I just can't get into it. My brother just tried it and is loving it. I'm tempted to go back and play FF 14 with him. We'll see.......
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
The raids are what interests me the most, but i follow the storyline and do some M+ as well.
Also, whatever CoH:Homecoming puts out.
Pretty much right there with you. People can't let go of those old titles. Although, I also look at it this way, I can pick up and play Galaga at any given moment. Not saying I can play it for 1000 hours though...
Quit last year after playing since 2.0
Would love for yoship to step down and let some fresh eyes have power over an expansion or two
I recently returned to ESO (not played since the Skyrim expansion) and I am loving it. The learning curve is immense (three expansions, 9 DLC's I think) but I have enjoyed it a lot. It has everything I am looking for in a game. I actively avoid PVP as well so I cannot comment on that but I love the new Arcanist class (new to me), new areas to explore and new main story quests.
