Sell it to Games Workshop. That would be an interesting irony since they started as England's D&D magazine. But...
They will monetize the hell out of it.
Critical Role pulls out of D&D... they lose a massive fanbase. They try to screw over content creators with licensing scam... lose content creators...
Profits likely dropping...
Nope, it turns out the only people who believe D&D is tanking are those who want it to fail. An objective look at the numbers indicates that the property is doing quite well, and Hasbro would be crazy to try to unload it.

We are not just talking DnD, if Hasbro own WotC they own the Masquerade and all the rest. Roleplaying books are not doing as well as they used to because physical books are not doing as well as they used to. But the digital areas is strong and with gaming, TV and film desperate for IP's they have a winner.

Just going to pop in to say that VtM is owned by Paradox Interactive, not WotC. Paradox owns the entire World of Darkness IP after they bought it from CCP back in 2015. Wizards is literally just D&D and MtG at this point.

Ahh yes, they moved on, VtM and WoD. Not sure they have done as well as DnD, even though Vampire 5th was a triumph in my eyes I just don't see as many spin offs outside TTRPG.

what numbers?
BookScan, for one, which indicates a slight (totally expected) decline after the pandemic, but numbers that are still extremely good, certainly outclassing any other TTRPG in existence.

You are still thinking in old fashioned capitalism ways. Making money is not enough. Corporations demand that sales meet growth expectations.
Many products and games are cancelled not because they weren't making money, but because they weren't meeting growth metrics set by corporate number crunchers. The very fact D&D is now a quarterly report metric is why it will be warped into the largest money earner possible, and will 'fail' despite being profitable.
It's not enough to meet consumer demand. It must meet investor return demands.
D&D failed it's audience the moment it was owned by a publicly traded company. It was stripped out of the hands of the consumer as with all products that go public. It's now Disneyland built for the masses.

"Stripped out of the hands of the consumer"? What does that even mean? As far as I know, Disneyland is still turning a profit and is in no danger of being sold. You may personally not be a fan of Disneyland, but that doesn't mean it's going to fail.

Why would you want a game that plenty of people still play to die? Just spite or?
