Sony Wants More 'Accountability' on Budget and Development Time From Bungie | MMORPG.com
Sony is reportedly giving Bungie, which it acquired back in early 2022, orders to operate with more accountability when it comes to budget and schedules.
If Sony are that worried they could just parachute a CEO into Bungie who has no gaming experience but has remodeled businesses before. That's what EA did, to the detriment of making games good for gaming I will add, but I am sure the shareholders did not see it that way.

Corporate masters demand accountability and reasonable adherence to projected timelines, especially when high budgets are involved and title's underperform in sales.
Besides, what game has Bungie released recently that was actually remarkable? Destiny 2 endless expansion #5 or whatever?
Nothing I've ever much enjoyed since original Halo series.

We've been told over and over that game development is different than any other kind of technology development, and that we just don't know what we are talking about. Being multiple years late and thousands of percent over budget is normal for game development. Asking for a release date or a roadmap that shows the completion of a game is just being rude.

You'd think Sony would know that by now.
SONY Execs apparently are a bunch o'noobs when it comes to game development and delivery.

When i was young i just blindly agreed those damn corporate suits are really screwing up whatever game i was following / playing at the time, why cant they just let the developers handle it all and keep crapping on their vision.
Kickstarter projects have reinforced my belief that some type of project manager with decision making power / influence behind them needs to be involved. After all we probably would have already played / be playing Pantheon, Camelot Unchained would not be in its what 11th year of development (and still no wheres close) and several other projects.

I don't follow studios but I can think of nothing I have played by them for ages. I think I would have noticed if I had as I do actually recognize their name.
Modern Bungie is one of the worst non-mobile studios in the industry, full stop. They are doing even more to damage their legacy than 343 is, and I'm glad Sony sees it too.

lol they are both so terrible. B0ungie seems like it is ambivalent to their game costing a small fortune and 343 well at this point you have to wonder how many clowns are in the clown car.

also dont forget Bungie has missed it targets 3 years in a ROW and sony In the contract has a right to full take over and they already told them they will if they dont hit this years target again and then they delayed the new add on to lol
There spending millions on an expensive new studio and artwork while giving themselves big bonusses and when sales underperform due to dev's being ignored and forced to listen to management as they know better....
Then the same management turn around and fire over 100 members of staff as their poor decisions have lost them money, I agree that Bungie management needs to held more accountable and spending needs to be looked at.
If Sony really wants to make money, they should back burner Bungie and focus on making Helldivers 2 servers work right and then fire a shot across Microsoft's bow by publishing the game on Xbox and watch it top the charts there. I don't think Sony has the chops to pull something like that off though. Sony does one thing well, really well, but that's about all they do and they're not very good at branching out and diversifying.

Game Development?
I'll look for that about the same time accountability shows up for government officials.
