Less than a month after a rough launch, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League already officially has a pessimistic outlook, per an earnings call from publisher Warner Bros Discovery.

Designing and releasing to shareholders expectations is one of the biggest problems in gaming today. It puts studios in a harness, making them avoid experimentation and "release launch" too early.

Catering to shareholders expectations is one of the biggest problems in the world today. FIFY. And that's not hyperbole. Shareholder expectations have become "make all the money today and next quarter make even more money". Not only does that lead to employee burnout but making bad products which pollute and soon wind up in landfills requiring more resources to replace. Greed is responsible for making life harder.
TBH I dont think they even played the game.

Shareholders aren't the problem. They do precisely what they are supposed to, invest money in the hope of a return on that investment.
The problem is that significant revenue can now be earned through accommodating content requests that deviate from that historically desired and enjoyed by players.
As a consequence making that less desirable to players can now be as equally or more profitable due to compliance payouts.
But you have lost me here, what "content requests" are you talking about? Are you indicating something like New World that suddenly veered to PvE after player discontent?
Now, Gotham Knights was dull as fuck. Barely worth the gamepass time and I'm even more glad I didn't preorder it.
Really? Then explain why it's happening all over the world and how corporate profits are at an all-time high. I noticed you left out the tax breaks of the previous administration and how the "bailouts" are for dealing with COVID fallout. Typical "never blame the 1%" propaganda.
I am talking about elements added to the game for which they are rewarded for the inclusion by other than purchasing customers. The money received from such can be significant enough to motivate making decisions that would not be taken if players were the sole source of revenue for the game.
Gotham Knights does NOT have good action. Or good anything else from that matter. It's a watered down Batman Arkham with way too much travel time, low content variety, a forgettable soundtrack, a shallow gear system, poor mission design, and a lifeless city. The one and only thing it has over Avengers is that it isn't littered with bugs. Don't throw stones from glass houses.
I take offense at the notion that GK is anything other than a steaming pile of shit. And I'm sorry, but sometimes consensus is fucking wrong, and no one should play it.
I did not choose to argue the point of GotG, MMS, or Spiderman because they are good games.
Supers fans are not exactly deluged with quality games, if you like supers you are forgiving and that is certainly a factor in MA. You just seem to be coming at this from a gaming point of view which s fair, we are coming at this from a gaming and supers fan pov which is equally fair.
