What if Arnold Schwarzenegger took up Martial arts instead of bodybuilding?

Do you think with his work ethic, intense effort, and pain tolerance that he could have surpassed MMA Stars such as Bruce Lee and all the head daddies in the UFC today?

    Meh, Arnold is another famous person who publicly admitted he hate us french canadians for no reason other than the french aspect of our life..

    I do like the vent harrasment some people did using his voice.

    But I don't know if you can really compare body building and martial arts training.  You don't need a brain to build your body, just lots of energie. I am biased, I think that dude don't have the brain for anything.

    Nah. Possibly if he worked at it from the very beginning. Having practiced martial arts myself for over 12 years now, martial arts is in a different ballgame from most other sports. It continues to surprise you. Whereas in basketball you would, for example, with just reason think a 5'2" player is severely disadvantaged. In martial arts, I see 5'4" MMA fighters take on 6'6" fighters of equivelant skill and win with some ease, without anybody really being surprised. It's such an amazing branch of sports, because so many factors come into play. I have no doubt Arnold could have been a great MMA fighter, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was below average either.

    Thats because the 6'6 guy must be skinny as a rail to fit in the same weight class as a 5'4.hehe

    Indeed. I think he could go either way. But I think if you look at him from his pro bodybuilding days, he did have many qualities that would make for a good martial artist.

    Had Schwarzenegger pursued martial arts over bodybuilding, we might have seen him kicking butt on screen instead of just flexing it.
